He probably is, as I just noticed how short and truncated the Cybertronain jet is. You know, kind of like Blitzwing's unconvincing earth mode jet.....

Got him, his wings, chest, top shoulder piece and missile things are a bit loose and keep unpegging by themselves, but I'm really happy I have him. He looks fantastic in robot mode.

IMG_20201027_141552849.jpg If you cut the handle off his gun (NOT the tab), the gun can tab under the nose of the plane. Thanks to the tab, the handle is useless anyway in both modes.

It looks like it was designed to do this and they threw the handle in last second for some reason. The contours inside the gun match the nose and it fits like a glove.

I've also found a mod to help his wing collapse closer to his back. The problem is the holes for the wing tabs are too far up on his back. To lower them, all you need to do is unscrew the two red parts on each side of his chest, and completely cut off the little filler bit that fills in the bottom of the slot on each side. Once you have it apart you will see what I mean.

In theory, you could cut the slot even lower and make the wings sit completely flush to his back, but it would take more cutting.

The jet mode, it is what it is (it's growing on me a bit though), and it's a bit annoying you have to hold the torso while moving the shoulders. That said the robot mode is just stunning. Really like this guy overall.

If you push in the tabs all the way they should hold in place when you move the shoulders.

I already did. The right arm though is still tight enough that moving it without holding the torso dislodges the whole assembly.
I'm gonna assume with some more time it'll loosen up a bit more so I can move the arms with less hassle.

If you loosen the rear screws underneath the red sections of the chest, in turn loosening the arms just a tad, it also helps things play along.

I did that, plus I thickened the tabs on the backpack, and he's a rock now.

You can tell yourself what you want and they can write whatever they want on the packaging, but for me, this is G1 Starscream movie style.
Calling it Blitzwing was obviously random.
    IMG_3882.JPG

(real) cockpit on the torso, red air intakes on the chest, black helmet with vents on the sides, wings on the back, tail fins on the calves... too much for me not to call him Starscream.

    IMG_3875.JPG

The parallel with the Generations ones is too perfect. So while it doesn't replace the first movie Starscream in my display, it'll be on the same page as the new movie Optimus. (And I say that even knowing an official Cybertronian Starscream will come later. Cybertronian mode can't replace earthmode)

    IMG_3887.JPG

But whatever your opinion about its name is, I still think it's a pretty solid toy. I LOVE the robots mode !

    IMG_3902.JPG

And the plane mode while being random is efficient enought for me.

And of course, you'll notice that my Studio Series Starscream ("Blitzwing" if it pleases you) is not intact anymore.
Call me an extremist if you want, but I don't like fake parts on my transforming toys. I prefer honest transformation over show accuracy. (And as I don't consider him as the character from the BB movie, it's even less of a problem to me). Plus, painted yellow and transparent yellow did not match and it was an eyesore for me.
So I dremeled out the fake canopy parts in front of its head.
    IMG_3828.JPG IMG_3830.JPG
Now its head is more visible in bot mode. And the gorgeous, transparent, real canopy too.

And there is no more strange out of place canopy part in the undercarriage of the plane. And the front of the torso now evoques a thruster pretty well.
    IMG_3842.JPG IMG_3846.JPG

Sure, now there is a gap in front of the head and you can see through its torso. But it doesn't bother me. I could fill it with some things later one.

If you hate fake parts, remove the entire air intake of the shoulders and chest, shoulder fins and uh... screw it, remove all the components that aren’t shared between the bot mode and vehicle mode

Well... Those can pass as extra exhaust thrusters of some sort in alt mode. As the plane is made up, it's okay with me. They doesn't bother me as much as the fake cockpit that can't be anything else than a fake cockpit.

But am I wrong or it seems to trigger something sensitive for you ? I sure did not mean to hurt any feelings.

Maybe I play too much Metal Slug (or have seen a T-38 Talon), but the jet mode's proportions look fine to me. The feet (I assume?) between the wings and tailfins look weird, though.

I'll get him if I see him, for sure.

I ordered the GX / Go Better set. We'll see how that one does when it arrives.

I was a little afraid he’d be a panel-filled mess to transform, but in spite of poorly illustrated instructions, he’s relatively intuitive and fun.
