So I got to talking with some friends, and it seems like a lot (if not all) of the copies of Scrapper have the eye paint apps misplaced? The official product photos make it look like the holes higher up on his head should be red, but on some they're painted lower. Picture courtesy of @SoundJack426
It's pretty kewl, kinda like an alien from a world where fiddler crabs evolved, with those asymmetrical claw hands and ... crab face. Only Overload yet to go!
Can someone do a size comp with 38 OP or SS Soundwave? Mine has yet arrive and now is on delayed backorder till the 22nd. Does anyone know what delayed backorder actually means?
It means the company your ordering from had to order the figure from the supplier because they have none on hand. but that order is delayed AMD here you go. I went with both
My only gripe with this guy. It seems he should have the two already painted, plus the ones above, making four eyes. That's what I see in this pic (now I know they're vents, oops): So I managed to paint the top two after pulling the head apart (the post inside ripped but it goes back together snugly, or with glue). You have to paint the stems and the surrounding flat area for them to look right: You could paint the mandibles silver as well, still trying to decide on that... Edit: The lower posts have been painted black after carefully looking at the box art in-hand, suggested by @Moy. They look like vents on the box- the red glare I saw was probably a blur after watching that scene again as well. I still don't want to touch the yellow mandibles, but eventually I'll do something.
How curious inspecting the artwork from a trading card the eyes don't look out of place... weirdly enough If we go by this image the eyes are suppose to be near the middle mandibles not above the manibles like the CGI render shows...wonder which one the movie uses and which one is based on concept art
I have complex feelings about this guy. On the one hand, he looks amazing. He's got probably the most charismatic robot design of all the Constructicons, barring maybe Mixmaster. And I actually really like his alt mode, unrealistic as it may be. It looks like what I would expect a gigantic mining front loader to look like, something that could go toe-to-toe with Long Haul's truck mode, even if there isn't actually anything like it in reality. But nice as he looks, I can't help but wish he were bigger. As a standalone he's fine, but attached as Devvy's arm, there's no hiding that he's far less massive than the Scrapmetal & Hightower combo. I don't know if Hasbro knew that they wouldn't be able to match the size of two deluxes when they planned out the size classes, but in hand it looks really unbalanced. It's a bit of a disappointment. His combiner peg is amazingly stiff, far more so than the one in Hightower. He doesn't really need it, given how (relatively) light he is. I kind of wish I could swap the pegs. One thing I'm amazed he isn't getting more flak for is his articulation. It sucks. And I'm not usually worried about articulation, I don't generally comment on it either way, but it really jumped out at me this time. His knees are basically useless, being limited to an always-bent pose. I knew the backwards bend would be limited, but I didn't expect that you couldn't straighten them out either. And those faux pistons under his armpits clash with his shoulders and make it hard to pose his arms. As is he's a great looking statue that you can do some limited posing with, like those late-90's/early 2000s Stan Winston Toys figures that had functionally useless articulation. I dunno. I don't dislike him, but there's some choices here that bother me a lot. He does look great, though. Definitely the most attractive constructicon, and as far as display goes, he's tops. I just don't know how fun he is to fiddle around with.
Finally got around to opening him and Sentinel Prime. Very cool robot mode, vehicle mode looks like it's missing something on the back. Extra tidbit: on both of them, everything pegged in on the first transformation. Now I'm afraid to transform them back.
Ordered him on 4/26 and he finally came in today (5/27). Love this guy and I can’t wait to for overload.
