So, is there a way to flip his head out without bending his antennae?

Picked up Soundwave a few days ago and I’m really enjoying him so far!

This is definitely one of the best looking deluxes of the Studio Series thus far. The silver paint really does wonders for this mold; aside from the somewhat clunky backpack (my biggest nitpick with the figure), this is a very good representation of the onscreen CG model. Possibility is pretty decent, despite Soundwave being a mostly statuette character in DOTM.

Transformation is quite fun without being too simple, and you get a really sleek looking vehicle mode in the end. Everything tabs in snugly and it has a good heft to it.

Soundwave is a definite recommend from me!

If you shift the head forward, that should give you enough clearance for the transformation.

After missing out on the deluxe and HA version, i'm so happy to find him today.
He also looks way better. Poseability doesnt bother me too much since he usually just stands there anyway, looking cool while deploying his little troops.

Could paint them silver or chrome first, then a thin coat of metallic blue will shine over the silver.
Works well with AoE Galvatron's blue bits.

To me this lil guy is almost perfect save for the slightly innacurate chest that the HA did perfectly. It's the one detail that has me on the fence about getting him, because this is one of my favorite movie designs. Now that I think of it, quite a bit of them are from DotM...

Despite some issues with the paintjob (ugly lumps of silver paint, a seemingly common black blot on the rear of the vehicle, black dents on the doors) I think it is a good addition to the line. The transformation where the spine alignment moves and the arms reconnecting into the side of the car reminds me of Barricade but seemingly better executed with much better tabbing.

Both modes look good, quite pleased overall.

I was holding out for ROTF Soundwave but they went with a boring movie accurate deco instead of the nice blue from the vide game. So I picked this guy up from Walmart alongside SS49 and he’s pretty good too. He feels a little limited when it comes to his arm articulation but it does everything you need it to. Like Bumblebee he feels very small but still solid.
I do wish he came with his hand cannon and he could use more paint on his forearms but otherwise another solid release.

What I don't like about the ROTF one is that he just looks very unfinished. The robot mode looks decent, but the "alt mode" is just folding his legs up and a couple of panels down. It's missing quite a bit from his movie design (from what I can tell).

At least this one turns into a nice car. I'll be picking it up sometime soon for sure.

Even after owning my SS DOTM Soundwave for a couple of days as well as painting mine up for a bit...... I'm still not sure what to think of this figure actually. It's not a bad figure by any means but in-hand...... SS-51 Soundwave isn't really that exciting of a toy for me. He does have some nice aspects, however like the glossy silver paint job, well-sculpted details all over the figure and its a good option for anyone who wants to get a figure of DOTM Soundwave.

He does look the part when posed with some other figures from the Studio Series toyline, however.

I'm interested, but not interested enough for me to deal with Instagram.

Funny how him missing his chest vents used to be a deal breaker for me, but now I can't give enough of a shit to trade partsforming for the one last thing he needs to be 100% accurate in robot mode.

    Looks cool though.

If it was these parts plus two guns, I would bite. I just don't really feel inclined to order an upgrade kit that small.

I don't need it, but I like it. The figure is fine without it, but it adds something in a nice prominent way, and it seems like it should be very easy to install and remove for transformation. Good work on the designer's part.

Got mine yesterday and dig it quite a bit. The titty pieces are a pain but the rest of the transformation is slick. Really like how the windows tab into the thighs. My only real complaint is how small je is, but that is more the fault of his actual movie scale.

    Couple of quick pics:
