The Bumblebee movie was highly anticipated for me the moment I learned that Travis Knight would take more influences from the 1980’s aesthetic that the franchise is most famous for. I always had love for the Bayverse designs, (if not some of the plot directions) but the idea of marrying both of these aesthetics has intrigued me ever since I got my hands on the Evasion Mode Optimus Prime Voyager AOE toyline gave us. Bearing that in mind, the Voyager BB Optimus takes its transformation and design cues from Evasion mode, Studio Series 5, and Siege Optimus Prime with a high parts counts for a complex but enjoyable transformation at 35 steps. With 26 points of articulation, BB Optimus has GI Joe level movement and is really fun to pose. 6 joints on each limb, waist joint and ball jointed head. My figures head was a bit stiff, other than that the joints were ok. He’s a great interpretation of the movie design, a fantastic figure, and i dont feel bad paying a premium. Pick him up when he hits retail!
