In an effort to keep non-live action movie figure discussion out of this thread:
    Movieverse Toys Appreciation Thread! EXPLOSIONS!!!

...as well as live action movie figures out of the non-live action movie CHUG/WFC Appreciation Threads, here's this thread.

Use this thread to discuss or debate whether you support or don't support 1986 G1 cartoon movie figures in the Studio Series line. This thread is NOT your warzone for "Gee wunners VS Bayverse". Be respectful and adhere to the rules here:
    TFW2005 Rules

    Discuss! Debate!

I'm all for new 1986 movie figures but I'd prefer if they weren't part of the Studio Series line. Reminds me of how 2014 AOE figures all shared the same package design. At best, 1986 Studio Series figures will have distinctly different packaging design. At worst it'll be the same.

Hoping this isn't some excuse to cut down Generations and Studio Releases to just 1 hybrid line.

Seems redundant to me with the WFC trilogy already being pure G1, but if it means I get a Galvatron that's better than that awful tiara-wearing TR version, I'll be very happy. Gimme a Cyclonus and Scourge too. Movie fans forget that there was a loooong time where Movie figures were the only game in town, though even I'll admit that I'm a bit tired of G1 at this point.

Bayverse Studio Series can't last forever, how many have they already done? Frankly 86 movie line isn't that big either, there are only so many characters. Why not spread the love?

I will laugh so hard if SS 86 Grimlock is just the potp mold with a Titans return wheelie.

Do I hope for an amazing figure? Of course! Grimlock is in my top three favorite Autobots. But, uh, maybe finish the movie dinobots for the SS line before hamfisting in G1 characters when they literally already have two lines of their own

I think it's a great idea. Studio Series already has a reputation for delivering screen accuracy as close as can be possible at the mass retail price points. Generations is more of the gimmick line, where everybody's going to be a combiner, or a Headmaster, or have a non-screen-accurate alt mode.

There was a recent Takara survey where one of the questions asked (or implied, I can't remember the [translated] wording) how important fans considered realistic, licensed alt modes to be. What's Studio Series known for? Realistic, licensed alt modes. It's my fevered hope that they aren't going to stop at the '86 Movie, they're going to open it up to ALL "studio" animation in the coming years and give us a full G1 cast with even more accuracy than Earthrise is currently doing; in effect, budget Masterpiece figures.

If, as suggested by others, this is just a way of increasing available price-point slots to cram a bigger '86 cast into the 35th Anniversary then fair do's. Otherwise......I couldn't see a point.

    I'm optimistic without a doubt

    Here's hoping we get

    86 Kup
    86 Hot rod / Rodimus
    86 Preceptor
    86 Galvatron
    86 Cyclonus

Single most redundant and unnecessary idea in a long time.

I worry it's actually decreasing available slots for live action Studio Series figures and non-movie Generations figures to downsize both into 1 line

Man I disappear for half a fucking day and had to scroll through over 10 pages of G1 crap.

I grew up on G1, and loved it, hell, I still have the very first MP Prime. But then I eventually grew up and came to realize how shitty G1 really was. As bad as the storylines for AOE and TLK were, G1, including the movie, had horrible storylines.

If you like the G1 characters and want updated toys, then stop coming on this thread to complain and bitch about wanting updated G1 toys. I'm sure there's a thread for that.

    Hahaha, I love this lol!!
Thank you for the awesome compliment, it means a lot coming from someone that takes awesome pics!!

And thanks for the advice, I'll definitely crop them to fit better next time. I just get afraid that I'll crop the pics too small.
I'll be honest, I'm one of those people, but worry not, for I have a perfectly good explanation for that!

We have only gotten two really good toys of Springer, the Generations Springer, and Siege Springer, and I personally love them both.

Whereas we've gotten shitload of different versions of G1 toys.
Yaaaaaaay!!!! You got BA Prime!!!! Gotta fix the abdomen pieces though, they're not meant to fold in that much.

Considering how Generations Unicron is being released in 2021 to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the 1986 movie, I think this is appropriate.

    Ah, random reveals time huh?

    Excited for Jolt.
I'ts interesting Bee comes with Sam. I hope its basically the 2007 with the necessary remolds and a non-mask head.
Grindor with Ravage - great, now I have to buy a leader class for Ravage!
ROTF Sideswipe - It has a roof sure, but what else are they gonna do to differentiate it from DOTM?

86 movie figures - eh... I'm of two minds. Have no problem with G1 designs; had SS never happened I'd be drowning in Siege/Earthrise right now.
And well, TR Gnaw is rather small and a deluxe one would be nice....
I'm just miffed its included in the SS line, but we shall see.

If SS is open to all TF movies then I DEMAND this bastard:
    Majinzarak_robot.jpg
Leader Majin Zarak, make it happen Hasbro!

I think SS expanding into G1 is redundant, but mostly I'm annoyed at how people are suddenly trying to twist it like this was always Studio Series' MO. "They never said it was *only* Movieverse" lol no

I wish everyone would wait and see what they are actually going to do before grabbing their torches and pitchforks but if I've learned anything from the speculation threads that's definitely not going to happen.

Wonder if Grindor is going to be bigger, or if it's just a repaint?

Also, G1 SS is a definitely yikes from me, but also the possibility that 'SS' Gnaw could be an 86 repaint of cyberverse/titans gnaw is super hilarious (in a morbid way)

I've just remembered that we're getting an animated prequel movie that takes place on Cybertron before the Great War which makes me think that if Studio Series is indeed going to include more then just the live action films both past and present then it'll make perfect sense to include future animated movies such as the Cybertron prequel. This is starting to make more and more sense to me on why Hasbro's suddenly making plans to include characters that aren't from the live action movies.
