As part of my media box, I received SS TF1 Megatron for free from Hasbro and Paramount. I haven't seen the movie yet, so I don't know the context of the character beyond the trailers, and will try to judge the figure on his own merits.

    Packaging exists:
    ss-tf1-megs01.jpg ss-tf1-megs02.jpg ss-tf1-megs03.jpg ss-tf1-megs04.jpg ss-tf1-megs05.jpg ss-tf1-megs06.jpg ss-tf1-megs07.jpg

    Robot mode:
    ss-tf1-megs08.jpg ss-tf1-megs09.jpg ss-tf1-megs10.jpg ss-tf1-megs11.jpg ss-tf1-megs12.jpg ss-tf1-megs13.jpg ss-tf1-megs14.jpg ss-tf1-megs15.jpg

Nice articulation, does everything a modern deluxe figure can do plus wrist swivel, double-hinged elbows. Head can't look down at all, looks up on transformation hinge. Not a fan of the ball jointed shoulders and hips but they work. Lots of range of motion. Sculpting and paint are very nice. Some hollowness but not terrible. Really liking the accessories, the fusion cannon technically isn't shown in the instructions attaching to the backpack in the alt config that way but it has no other storage space and clearly is the depth for the classic look. The fusion cannon isn't hollow at all, that's fantastic! All the rest have some hollowness.

    Vehicle mode:
    ss-tf1-megs16.jpg ss-tf1-megs17.jpg ss-tf1-megs18.jpg ss-tf1-megs19.jpg ss-tf1-megs20.jpg ss-tf1-megs21.jpg ss-tf1-megs22.jpg ss-tf1-megs23.jpg ss-tf1-megs24.jpg ss-tf1-megs25.jpg ss-tf1-megs26.jpg ss-tf1-megs27.jpg
Transformation is pretty interesting, the instructions using dark purple over light purple makes it really hard to see what orientation things are supposed to be to lock into place. Very solid when everything's finally tabbed together (except the turret which is just attached via 5mm peg so it can be removed), but it takes getting everything situated in place fully to get that solidness, the back of the legs into the bottom of the feet is most tricky.

For an H-tank, this is pretty neat and atypical, but it's still just a good disguise for an H-tank. No wheels. Some gappiness and hollowness. The turret can rotate and elevate but reveals the robot head, and that can't be rotated around without modding the figure. Loving the giant cannon though, looks great.

    Overall: B

I'm usually pretty forgiving for Megatron figures, but man, not this time. At a quick glance it seems decent, but really looking at it is where it falls apart.
    -Leg proportions are downright bad.
-Puffy chest design doesn't help, though I guess that's due to how the character designs are.
-Cannon looks more like a strapped on rifle. Again, character designs.
-The shoulders are so reminiscent of those on the Authentics version that I can't help but see this as part of that budget line. On this figure though, they look awful.
-H-tank looks suitability alien, but the treads just don't look coherent. The fronts look like they don't need to be there.

Overall, without one in hand and never intending to ever get one, it looks like a super easy pass.

I am still wondering if we are due a Takara version of him (like the Optimus one) but I am loving what I am seeing.

The long lower legs also looks awesome, I would love a replacement cannon (that suits both modes) but don't hat the ones he has. In fact it is part of the reason I feel we are due another version of him.

Can't wait to have him in hand.

And that's why I canceled my preorder for this one. Just can't see anything decent about it.

I don't know what the complaints are about the proportions. I think this Bayonetta x Megatron Collaborative figure really captures the source material.

[this post is clearly a joke]

I would love that, but I doubt it. They've never done special releases of the villains before.

The proportions are so off, it's nuts. Trying not to spoil, but since Bee is deluxe class, this figure is clearly in the wrong class.

This might sound strange, especially if hasbro reads it, but not everything in Transformers is centered on Bumblebee.

The 2nd part of the comment is more about shoehorning different sized figures into the same class. I could've swapped out Bee for Elita.

I get it, but the way you put it struck me as hilarious, the way Hasbro sees these things.

If only Takara could release a Commander Megatron to go with their Commander Optimus Prime...

So Walmart is shipping out copies, and I got mine today. I think he’s a solid figure. Definitely one that in my opinion is much better in hand than in pictures.

Poses well, plenty of accessories, and it’s overall a good deluxe figure.

But that’s honestly my biggest gripe. Megatron and Optimus Prime should have been voyagers. Because this figure works better size and accessory wise as D-16.

It seems like they designed this and the Prime to be their cogged versions, but then changed some of the molding and detailing to make them their final forms. Because this guy and SS Prime as D-16 and Orion is great. But as Megatron and Optimus, I’m not so sure. And I think that’ll become apparent when Sentinel and Starscream release next year.

    Either way, solid B figure.

I just got my copy and I really love the shapes of his helmet and face. Might be my favorite Megatron headsculpt yet. The bucketness of the helmet is the coolest a G1-ish Megatron helmet has ever looked and the face is so delightfully grumpy.

Nice, solid figure. Poses well, has good accessories, great paint and tight joints.
