The part of this TMT / STS where I like the most is the scuplted details on the toso area. It beats all other transforming knight OP.

Yeah toy wise, they know they can make plenty more money off those designs. Movie wise they definitely want to bury the bayverse so that the public gets a more positive look at their brand and so things don't get stale.

 

And alien attack v2 which looks great.

Why the fuck do conpanies keep doing Bee and Prime? These are aimed at collector's, not parents and kids that only recognise Bee and Prime. We'd buy even the most obscure characters.

 

Even among collectors I guess Optimus (idk about Bee) sells way more than other thing

Also yeah I really hope this isn't the evolution of TMT's version cause it looks way worse. Proportions are off and the hinges got way bigger? This looks more like a copy or trying to do the same thing.

That makes no sense. More like maybe they ran out of time to do things properly and then decided to say "OK well we can always redo this later". If they make a really good figure especially of an Optimus or Bee they can recolor it a million times and resell it with no need to make a whole new figure. That's way more lucrative for them.

 

Tbh I don't see it being worse than what we've seen before

Looks good... except for the accessories. They forgot to attach his butt flaps. I still don't like the sword hole in his sternum. They resized his head and it looks better. Glad to see this is still going even after changing hands.

 

I noticed that too, but I think it looks a bit more strange in these pictures because the photographers didn’t take a completely front on shot. They took the photo from a higher angle making his torso seem larger than it actually is. Hopefully we get more pictures with different angles

 

So they made the details sharper and the head bigger. Looks nicer! The changes on the shins though, wonder what that's about? Even on the 3D render and older pictures there weren't gaps on the shin. They also removed his buttflaps for some reason lol.

 

You always have to account for the first-time collectors as well. As much as someone who's been on it since Citizen Stack came out might be looking for a figure of that one character who appeared for 13 frames in episode 17 due to an art issue, someone who's just got a passing interest is more likely to see Optimus or Bumblebee and think, "Oooh, I might have to get some of those," before they find out just how deep the rabbit hole is. They're familiar characters, which makes them very accessible.

Not that I personally mind. I stopped counting my Optimii when I got past 30, and that's with only two basically duplicates (MP-10 and Horse-timus) and two part-duplicates (PE-DX10 and PE-DX10G). So this is right up my alley, even as someone who's been in it for years.

 

Ass flaps missing, shins look worse, hinges are bigger and proportions look different (maybe due to head size).

Yeah you’re definitely right about the angles. TBH we haven’t gotten a single actually good photo of any physical copy of this figure to date so only time (and more pics) will tell.
