I did a search so I really apologize if this was started in another thread or forum, but who do you guys think is the best Dinobot? My vote is Snarl. I always liked him because he was built to just kick butt. In G1 Slag and Sludge pretty much did whatever Grimlock told them to do, but when Ratchet (IIRC) created Snarl and Swoop to counter Grimlock going rogue, Snarl seemed to be a cool trooper type dinobot that just got the job done. I guess the same case could be made for Swoop, but his voice from the Movie on was horrendous in my mind. Also I am not totally 100% on this, Wasn't Predaking the strongest of the combiners in the Japanese series? Individually who would win in a battle if pitted against their counterparts without the aid of Predaking. And I remember the Dinobots taking down Devastator a few times in the regular cartoon. Is it possible or did it ever happen in the Japanese series that they took down Predaking?
My favorite dinobot is grimlock as he received the most persona of the 5. grimlock was the strongest dinobot & was the leader. Swoop is my second favorite because he received decent persona in the UK Marvel TF comics. Yes,I think the Dinobots fought the G-1 Pedacons a few times in the UK TF Marvel comics. the dinobots "might" have fought predaking in the UK TF Marvel comics,I'm not sure & don't remember.
i always figured snarl and swoop were the strongest...there was a g1 episode where sludge, slag and grimlock went gongo and they (autobots) sent the last two dinobots swoop and snarl against the other three...and these two managed to hold their own quite admirably...
Ok I only that Grimlock is the strongest to Predaking. P.S. Wheeljack created the Dinobots. Not Ratchet.
Hard to say. When you look at the MO's for the decepticon's combiners, they were all pretty much similar and each one that came out was allegedly stronger than the ones preceeding him, particularly if you watch the cartoon where the newest toy always handled the older toy with ease. Defensor destroyed Bruticus with one shot once, Devastator got his arse handed to him by Bruticus. Devastator's constructicon components had a lot of personality and I think that let to him lasting so long in the toon and 'comic as far as exposure. He sticks out in everyone's mind not just because he's a cool combiner but because the constructicons got so much bio and background in the 'toon. In the cartoon, the original appearances of the Predacons made them SO savage that only Megatron could control them because he beat them and earned their respect. There are many examples where Megatron was portrayed as so much stronger as to be beyond any other Decepticon and this is just one of them that struck me as being absurd. I understand the point that Megatron was supposed to be the most badass Decepticon, but if he was so tough how come the autobots handed him his arse on a regular basis? Optimus Prime? And if that's the case, why didn't prime end the decepticons? Because he's a peace lover? See how it makes the whole series kinda circular and pointless? Prime was created to be a warrior. In any case, the point is, both the dinobots and predacons have similar MO's. They were both supposed to be so powerful and savage that they were beyond control, and they were both controlled in the end. So make of that what you will. Mathius
They took down predaking when they combined in that special 2-part comic, its a must read, really awesome. My fav dinobot has always been Grimlock, but Snarl is a close 2nd.
Cartoon? I think you're confusing incidents in the cartoon with incidents from the comics. In the cartoon, the Predacons didn't appear until Season 3, by which time Megatron had become Galvatron.
P.S.S - they BOTH created them. Vexxet - Swoop's voice never changed, he was always voiced by Michael Bell. My fave is Swoop, but I have a soft spot for Sludge and Slag. And silly me thought you meant the vs. BW Predacons, to which my answer would have been 'squish!' --Moony
Yes, you are correct, that should have read comic. IIRC Megatron gets abandoned on some "savage planet" where the predacons rule or perhaps voluntarily landed himself there. It's been a while since I read the comics, but the basics apply. You are correct sir. Mathius
Sludge could stomp down and open up fissures. I'd say that makes him pretty strong. Haven't watched the cartoo lately but I don't remember Grimlock ever doing that. Yeah Sludge said he'd follow 'strongest leader always' but he was pretty damn stupid.
