Again, how does a female robot having the body of a female equate to being designed like a pin up girl? That pretty much implies every female you see (with a fit, shapely body I presume) desires to be such… or maybe a stripper! Yeah that’s it! All fit, shapely women must be strippers! :rolleyes2

Some women do have that body type and they are not weak or invalid or shameful. Nor is it offensive for them to exist or to be portrayed in media or for people to like or even prefer that body type or for people to intentionally design characters to evoke it. Why do you think I need or feel the need to convince anyone of anything? I dunno RazorclawX, your post comes across as some kind of shaming of thin women, and that's problematic. wince

I can think of four pink non-G1 Arcees released before 2014 just off the top of my head. Since then, four pink G1-styled Arcees have come out. The PotP and Netflix Elitas both have very notable pink components. These are the best known female characters in the franchise. Blackarachnia is the only other character at that level and does not have any toys I know of suitable for a 4-year-old. Maybe Windblade, but most of her toys aren't child-friendly, either. The OP just joined the site within the last month. You can't assume he's seen anything else, which is probably why he described himself as a novice and is asking for advice. I think the "FFS" was warranted as the same colors and body types do keep coming up. There is more variety than that, thankfully, and it's getting better. That's not immediately obvious to a novice, though. He just asked for input from people with broader experience than him, which is one of the reasons we have forums like this.

So, respectfully, I do think your perspective may have been off. I'm not saying this to escalate into a flame war or anything, because I do understand where you're coming from. However, I don't think anything in the first post supports that reading.

She’s small, but not overtly curvy, and I like her design a lot- Power of the Primes dinobot Slash.

I have Masterpiece Road Rage too- not something you’d want to give a child maybe, but a good example of a nice looking female character. I don’t have the WFC Kingdom version, but from photos she looks decent also.

I would venture to guess it was more about "pink = girl & blue = boy coding" as well as the stereotypes that go with that (all of which is still stringently enforced by a large swath of our species) rather than how many pink Transformers there have been.

    Hey.

Happy to report that yep, your perspective is off - I don’t mention sex, that’s been projected onto my post. I do mention body type but was thinking more of them beating the size 8, medium build. That’s a female body that lots of females do not have. Also, stature and complexity - I’m looking for toys that will feel as powerful as the male toys. All of this is about that and I know I’m Probably blowing against the wind in many ways as so many fandoms have this issue - but it can be mitigated to some extent by being involved and being intentional.

I was hoping to find better toys and ya’ll have directed me to loads that fit the bill.

p.s Pink: I should have been clear, I’m not suggesting TF has an abundance of them. he’s got a few cartoons that he’s loved - paw patrol, robo car poli, Super Wings, Tayo, TiTi Po, to name a few and they all have a few female characters but the most prominent female is usually sidekick to the main male, pink, polite and often a nurse/medic. I’m so bored of pink female heroes. Delighted that TF is much better here but the most prominent female is pink. again.

Will definitely add Slash at some point once I get some of the larger female Toys. Thanks - had forgotten that she existed.

I’m not seeing thin women being shamed in this comment at all - I’m seeing the designer/artist/writer intention being addressed.

I didn't think I needed to put the blue text in there for it to be clear I was being flippant, but I really need to stop omitting it. It's really easy to misconstrue things on the internet. I just feel like it takes the fun out of it when I present the text in a way that makes it totally obvious before you even read it that I'm not being serious. Like putting the ending of a book in the title.

@GrahamFA and @DrJest, thanks for the continued and civilized explanations, viewpoints and conversation! I expected (not wanted, but expected) my opinions to start an argument, and I’m glad it didn’t. That can be rare theses days! So, thanks for that, much respect to you both!

Question 1: Did you grow up with the toys you are seeking for your son?
Question 2: Do you have healthy attitudes toward women and understanding of what they are capable?

Not sure why you want to know any of that, not sure about your tone (it’s coming off as aggressive), no idea who you are
Or why you think I’d want to engage with you on those question. I’ve no intention of being questioned here about my childhood or having my attitudes to women being assessed/evaluated.

I’ve got the info I need from peeps, have thanked them for their help, unpacked a bit about my intention and thinking. Apologies if I have misconstrued your post but I’m actually tiring of this thread.

Thanks again to all those who offered any assistance - got some stuff lined up for him

Thanks Jametron - it’s been an interesting thread, with good chat and stuff that’s given me pause for thought.

But I’ll draw a line under it for me now - all the best

I was being completely neutral. My gut was that you’re likely perfectly normal and didn’t have those things as a kid. I just wonder why we’re all so obsessed when we didn’t have them and we’re fine. At least that’s my take with my own kids.

My gut is also that he learns more from your behavior (again likely very respectful) than he would from a toy. But your kids, your prerogative.

This is for transformers toys not for help raising your kid or reinforcing your belives

I think you’re projecting. Angrily. And disrespectfully.
