Does anyone still play this? LoL
I've been playing with my son locally and I kind of get what they were trying to do here; much faster gameplay, focus on offense, most moves are safe on block.
But whey you go online where the matter of the game is at that kind of pace becomes unreliable with the bad network environment.
I've noticed since the update to CFN that there is much less lag, but it's still too much; like 25 to 30% of my matches.
I seem to get matches a lot quicker, and I've accepted some friend requests, but User Interface is still really bad.
Half the time I don't understand what the announcer chick is saying:
"You are currently ranked NNDSHIHEHNND in North America."
"Your opponent NGNSGNNIPNDINGNSWWWWN character."
Also, now that I've played more and gotten to Silver I fight more than just Ken or Ryu players.
Here's a highlight I'm kind of proud of.
Quit playing a while ago, first time I've ever had no desire to play SF. Genuinely hate this game with a passion and I know if I try playing again I'll just get aggravated as usual because it's so bad lol. Been trying to learn Tekken lately and it's been fun but I miss playing SF with friends and the competition .
Btw, good stuff Smash.
There's a pretty big rumor that Season 3 is going to rebrand the game as Super Street Fighter V.
It will be interesting to see how that plays out and how Capcom handles people who bought Vanilla V.
The gameplay isn't changing and that's why this game sucks and why most dislike it. Adding 100 characters and stages isn't gonna change the problem. Capcom doesn't seem to understand this.
Gameplay honestly isn't even "bad," it's just different. We were just having a long conversation about it in a group chat and basically there's no winning with the FGC. The most free and people who don't even play are always the most vocal and with SFIV the complaint was too high of a skill ceiling with focus stuff, multiple ultras, supers, EX, 1f links, etc. etc. and then they dial EVERYTHING back with SFV and the complaint is hurr durr too simple with not one person saying it actually doing anything with it.
If it's so simple, then why are the majority of top players carry-overs from SFIV? Just because you can do a combo you see easier doesn't make the game have any less meta or skill needed to excel.
I liked the SFIV series waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than this in terms of gameplay, but man a lot of complaints about this game are weak. If it's been a year and you're a bronze/silver, then obviously the gameplay isn't that easy.
The sad part is that USFIV servers haven't shut down yet for alllll of the people bitching and asking for a SFIV revival, it's sure a deadzone when I pop online on PC and PS4. Again; no winning.
I just don't know what to think with this game anymore.
Just had several matches that were just lag, lag, lag, lag, LAG!
Several times I was just smashing this Zangief and suddenly I was in caught in the Spinning Pile Driver.
I'm not talking like he pulled the move out and beat me, he was totally in the crush animation, then boom! I'm the one going for
Then I got caught in the air SPD when I was on the ground. TWICE!
I know I just said the lag was not as bad, but I just had six lag-ass matches in a row.
For those who have SFV on PS4. Do you still have to do that stupid Dual Shock 4 workaround to use PS3 controllers?
Yes. It's any game that allows ps3 controller use at all. And be prepared for even more input delay.
Maybe he'll grow on my, but Abigail looks stupid.
He's way too big. I don't think he fits in with the Street Fighter universe.
My friend and I were watching this together and were both dumbfounded at how terrible he looked lol. You could kinda feel the disappointment in the crowd too. Worst reveal at EVO by far.
With any giant Street Fighter character there's a measure of "how could anyone survive his attacks?" type of disbelief filter you need to put on.
But Abigail is just so humongous it just doesn't work.
And the way Ed just floats so he can use him as a speed bag for his super -how does he float?
It's unlike other Street Fighter attacks.
I actually think Capcom had a worse reveal with Gamora and Jedah for MvCI.
They didn't have a trailer but instead just used them in the game.
They skipped the intros, missed the supers, it was just really bad.
If there one thing Capcom knows is how to shit the bed.
Have really mixed feelings around Abigail.
His design and size are deliberately very very silly and a little offputting but gameplay wise he seems like the opposite of a lazy slight variation of an existing V character and he does seem to introduce new elements that should alter the games meta which is what new characters are supposed to do.
At a guess normal throws are not going to work against him but command throws should hopefully still work against him. Match-ups like cammy vs Abigail are going to look very strange given the size difference considering Abigail is about the size of the juggernaut from the vs/X men/marvel games.
It's odd how the clip of him shown to us didn't show the metre or life bars and to me the camera looks slightly further away than normal and I'm really interested to see how this character is going to look when released as I'm not quite sure how they are going to fit his head in the screen.
Watched a bit of street fighter V EVO this year and it was pure hype with loads of great matches
Here's another video with life bars and such.
The narrator claims he's 8 feet tall but he looks like he's at least 15 feet tall.
Regarding the comment I made about his Super before, it looks like he smashes his opponents head through an invisible ceiling and that's how they stay afloat.
I've accepted the edge of the screen as a wall forever in Street Fighter, but that's kind of a stretch to just imagine a ceiling now.
At least it "explains" why the characters don't fall.
Yeah, the Abigail reveal was just sad compared to all the reveals that had been going on throughout the day. Everyone was so hyped for everything up until then, even Jedah (who looks sick but I still wont get the game) we went nuts for, but Abigail fell mostly flat. Since they did the reveal before top 8, I was hoping they'd reveal Super as a surprise after top 8, but nope.
My God, what does he eat?
I gotta admit I got used to looking at Abigail really quickly.
I do have a hard time figuring out where I can actually hit him though.
I miss the SF 4 thread being on the front page, instead of having to dig through 3-4 pages for 5...
