Amazing pictures! TBH those pictures are tempting me! One import shop has 1 piece that are holding for me but I need to decide by next week...

Yeah, the rubber is a serious concern for me. If there were no rubber, it would be an almost nstant buy for me.

SOTA...I really MISS the SOTA line. When they first came out, I felt they were the best in terms of value for money in the 6 inch line. The figures were very nicely sculpted, well thought articulation and the 'proper' extras such as spare hands, special effects parts etc.

You can see the rest of the comic strips here:

And yes, Sota Toys SF figs are still considered the best for value imho. I still like them very much.

I had previously thought that nothing could top Play Arts Kai SFIV Ryu's sculpt, but Storm Collectibles really knocked it out of the park with capturing Ryu's likeness from the game. The PAK figures joints and seams are too obvious by comparison, especially since they segmented his gi top. I still like the PAK version but SC Ryu is definitely the better made figure. Hope they make Chun-Li eventually, or Guile.

Chunli is confirmed based on a youtube interview in Cantonese that Mr Eddie (SC creator) had discussed about his concern over whether to make her look more feminine or to look muscular (accurate to game but this may invite feminists criticism). But he is certain Chunli figure will be made.

Well, Chun-Li is pretty much the undisputed queen of female fighting game characters so hopefully they get her likeness just right. The PAK does a pretty good job but I'm curious how SC will tackle the Mistress of the Thunderous Thighs. :D

Thanks! I was about to post some of the pages over here. It is quite worrying - I get what Storms Collectibles are going for i.e. seamless but why didn't they use it for the elbow joints too?

The Tyson issue seems like the rubber wasn't strong enough to cope with the stress of bending. Its a pity because they're idea was pretty cool.

IMO they should have stuck with just plastic joints. It's more durable and cheaper as oil prices are down(?).

For those considering between getting S.C. and SHF versions, here are the comparison photos. I just acquired the SHF ones today. :)

Woah. I didn't realize the SHF were that close in scale to the old SOTA figures. That really gives me something to think about now.

But the fact that Storm Collectibles Ryu & SHF Ryu are both around the same price range ... I personally feels that the former is more value for money. But thats just me.

I'm not liking the SHF face. It looks weird to me. That made my decision a little easier. But for some reason I still really want to have a Ryu to square off against SHF Bruce Lee.

Since I already have both MK figures I should go with the SC version.

    I still can't decide....

I see where you're coming from but if the Figuarts doesn't have rubbery material, I would go towards Figuarts

Perhaps i overlooked the point that you mentioned. For my case, i got both near USD$50 from my local retailer shop without need for any shipping cost.

Hmm. The SF figures look to be an actual 6" scaled line within Figuarts. That's unusual as they usually scale their figures at 5.5". I'm still undecided honestly. The Storm Collectibles Ryu looks better than the SHF Ryu impo... especially the fireball. But Chun-li looks fucking fantastic as does the upcoming Cammy. Storm Collectibles size is another knock against them for me though. Everything else I collect is 6" (except the few NECA figures I have) scaled and the Storm Collectibles figures being closer to 7" scaled from what I've seen wouldn't work for me. I mean... they'd look good with my NECA Kratos and Dante, but I don't see them mixing in well with Marvel Legends. It's actually kind of frustrating that both companies decided to make great looking SF figures at the same time. If it was just one or the other I wouldn't have to decide! :lol

Okay, so that idea is out. No wonder he fit in with Sota.

The cards are stacked against him but I still really want the SHF.

I think I'm going to wind up with both like you.

In this case I think the SHF would scale better with ML, since it's closest to SOTA size

So the line up so far:

    ☆☆☆Released (in Asia)☆☆☆
    Ryu (weathered white Gi)
Ryu (special edition, dark blue Gi)
    M.Bison (red attire)

    ☆☆☆Upcoming (unconfirmed release order)☆☆☆
    M.Bison (special edition? Green attire)
    Ken (red Gi)
    Ken (special edition? Blue Gi)
    Zangief (red ring gear)
Alex (prototype shown in toy fair)
    Chun-Li (mentioned by Storm's staff)
Hot Ryu (beard version, possible exclusive)

So there are at least 10 possible figures to be expected in time to come. I will be getting all of them.
