Yellowish/Brownish? Or Uber?
Damn auto correct!!
LOL. Was confused if you were looking for Yellow Devy.
Ha ha no, I don't normally comment from my phone, plus it's new and likes to alter things after I've typed them. Really should change the settings
My advice: Don't worry about redoing older videos if a newer/better figure comes out. I mean, you have to look at your ultimate goal and be comfortable with "imperfection." That's just my take on things. This is a hobby, after all, right? You should have fun, not dread.
I can't wait till you do the Constructicons. Keep up the GREAT work!
Imperfection has no place in any description of Optimus Time Lord's work. Truth be told I preferred the third party Megatron he used in his earlier videos than the cartoon accurate MP toy. That's just a preference by the way NOT a criticism.
There are times when a new figure lacks some of the precense of an older version. I like MP-36, though I definitely preferred the shinier deco Apollyon had; and the first TT Shockwave release was disappointing compared to the heft and colour of Quakewave... But ultimately seeing official MPs transported into G1 is the meat and potatoes of what I do, so TT will replace 3rd party wherever possible.
It gets a little more tricky when official replaces official. I'm currently getting used to MP-44, and although I like his appearance better than MP-10, his transformation is a nightmare! I've skipped over most of the '+' editions, as for me personally they take away more than they add.
But yes it is just a hobby after all, and I could end up remaking the same scenes forever with each new v2/3/4 if I'm not careful!
Any ideas about transformation cheating yet? Been racking my head over it, personally.
Another from FB
This is hilarious
I think it will be a case of just leaving out a load of steps and hoping things still flow. Sometimes the cheating is more of an afterthought in Photoshop...
Great voices too!
I use GIMP, but I’m not nearly as skilled with it as you are with Photoshop. I’m mostly thinking just of in-camera cheating. I imagine skipping almost all the steps in the legs will be needed, then standing him up whilst skipping a lot of steps in the torso so it looks as much like the toon transformation as possible. Thankfully they got rid of any waist/leg rotation, that’ll help a great deal.
Yeah funny but MP-10's legs rotating never seemed to cause much disruption to the eye, nor did the faux grill morphing into the real grill; I guess that's an example of cheating working well. I'm a bit disappointed that MP-44 doesn't have the arms as the sides of the cab, or the hands retracting into the wrist like MP-1, but I'll do my best with what we've got. Sometimes cheats need extra photos to use in the final composition.
Have you ever thought of doing an entire episode? I know that'd be a shit ton of work, but that would be stupid awesome.
One thing I loved about Hasui’s approach to designing MP figures was that he would make sure that iconic aspects of the cartoon’s transformation could be replicated by the MP (like Prowl’s push-up arms). I love what’s been done with the newer MPs and the increased articulation is something I wouldn’t want to give up, but it would have been cool if some of Prime’s signature transformation moves had been retained in MP-44.
Maybe v4 will accomplish that.
Definitely one thing I miss about MP figures.
I've been gradually working towards it all along
Considering how many years it's taking, it will be a one off though! The trouble is, it gets boring doing scenes with the same small cast and settings, so I mix in a variety from other seasons to keep things interesting (for me as much as for the viewers).
If TT dares to give us a Prime v4 and it isn't a Powermaster (or some other iteration than OG) I'll properly give up!
Jeez I remember being annoyed that MP-4 was a rehash of MP-1. Oh how simple those days seem now
Ahhh nice!!!! Can't wait to see that duder!
By pure coincidence I was working on this as I realised yesterday was the 35th anniversary of the cartoon first airing. So I had to stay up tonight and finish it - still the anniversary somewhere, right?
I know you were concerned about the transformation being a pain to work with for these (always incredible) animations. How’s it been now that you’ve actually been giving it a go?
Separate names with a comma.
