How do ya feel about them? Are they needed? Pointless? Extra? Do you want them back? Are you glad they're gone? I'm alot more into them than I thought I'd be. I can use stickers on a bunch of figures at once if I'm not satisfied with their base decos. And it's actually fun trying to imagine what figures would look like with them.
Personally I think the tampos will hold up better over time, but I do miss the minor amount of customization stickers allowed.
Prefer tampos, but also love the "feel" of having them. But then, I want a complete return metallic block text, purple and red grid lines, tech specs with red reader inserts, and styrofoam lol.
A return to G1 packaging would be absolutely amazing, even if it's just for an exclusive run of figures, or platinum release. I'd keep that packaging!
For optional decals I'm fine with it but tampos and paint are definitely better for any necessary detail. Like the headlights that should of already been on Inferno/Artfire. But the choice of symbols on the G2 masterpieces are nice and other than sticker deterioration I like all the options with MP Shockwave. I like Reprolabels for extra details off the toys, but by default I wouldn't want them there. 9/10 I'd rather cartoon/comic accuracy because that is how I knew Transformers. Selfish yeah, but I'd rather pick and choose there. I quite like the lower toy stickers on the Datsuns but wouldn't want a toy to replicate most of Sideswipe's details.
I love the look of vintage stickers on vintage toys, one of my quests at the moment is to either find vintage specimens with perfectly preserved stickers or apply them myself, but that's an expensive pursuit. But when you get a combination of perfect toy and perfect stickers, it's a glorious thing (posted these on G1 thread yesterday): For modern figures I prefer tampos, as I have had issues with Masterpiece stickers (loved Loudpedal's but they do peel fast) and Titans Return, as they have started peeling and showing wear immediately. All the best Maz
^good points above...amazing pics, Maz!! There are definitely two sides to this coin. As a kid, I used to love the sticker sheets. Looking back, my 7-10 year old fingers didn't always do the best job in applying them (my treasured Jetfire in particular) but seeing the toy come to life with those beautiful, often metallic stickers was magical. Plus, whatever they used back then, held up WAY better than they do now. Yes, they would rub and wear but seldom did the stickers peel up and fall off as they do on newer figures....even the reissues. I just noticed that my Takara Encore Ratchet's face sticker has lifted inside the van cab without being touched. . My biggest problem with stickers is that you get one sheet per figure and you can't go on Hasbro's web page and order a replacement if you screw them up or damage one...so it makes the toy suddenly scary to handle. Reprolabels has helped with this problem but their stickers, while beautifully done and sometimes better than the originals, are not exact copies. By far, my favorite iteration of this are the durable/non peeling tampographs that LOOK like stickers, as we've seen with Titans Return. The delicious metallic details with a lot less worry.
Stickers are a fun for nostalgia's sake but I prefer tampos. I was really annoyed by all the stickers during the Arms Micron line which may have turned me off to them even more. I don't mind a few reprolabels here and there when desperately needed but I'd just as soon leave stickers to the 80's toys.
Of course almost everyone would like tampos. Since POTP looks like they are using stickers more, I would prefer if they were not pre-applied.
I find stickers completely pointless on modern figures and have skipped recent voyager and leader class figures due to them. They look cheap and dealing with G1 figures I know they will just peel, fade, and tear over time.
I wish someone would offer repro and custom stickers as dry rub or vinyl decals. Easier to place. More durable. Leaning towards making my own for a few figures once I’m a bit more cash flush.
i will always prefer tampos because they last longer and don't peel. But I wouldn't mind stickers so much if: A. Hasbro used better quality decals and B. just include the sheet in the box with the instructions and let the fans put them on instead of putting them on incorrect and/or poorly placed at the factory.
