Possibly entitled 'the Gunslinger' it follows Roland around when he was younger. Sweeeeeet Nectah! Here
Holy bumhug! This could be very interesting! Can't wait! I guess that depends on if you think you'd like an epic 7 book western/fantasy/sci-fi/time-travel/horror story written by Stephen King. If you do give it a chance, I'd suggest sticking with it at least through the second book, that one is much more in tune with the rest of the series than the first book IMO. - L -
The preview art looks gorgeous so far and looks like a "must-get." Hmmm, may actually start reading these novels....
You should. Everyone should. The WORLD must read The Dark Tower series. It is Stephen King's BIG THING in his life. EVERYTHING he did revolved around the Dark Tower series. Most of his other books & short stories touch on it or happen in or around what's going in it. ARRRRRGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! READ IT!!! READ IT!!! READ IT!!! READ IT!!! READ IT!!! READ IT!!!
I consider myself a Stephen King fan despite having only read "On Writing." For some reason just never got around to reading his other stuff. However, since I go to the comic store every week like church, I may was well give it a look.
I read and enjoyed the first three books, couldnt make it through the fourth book because it came out so long after the 3rd book I had lost interest and just couldnt get into it. The first and third books were really good, very abstract. How were the remaining books in the series? Were some better than others?
Roland, young or old, is a stud. Maybe Marvel will consider going big screen with this. For those who don't know about the Dark Tower series, read the The Gunslinger. You should be able to find in paperback for a low price.
I read the first 2 books a few years ago, couldn't really get into them. Might try again with the 3rd book one day. King usually puts something related to the Dark Tower in most of his books it seems. I remember parts of Black House and Hearts in Atlantis mentioning it.
I'm a Tower junkie myself. I have hardcover editions of all 7 (and the first 4 were the HCs only released through Donald M. Grant), plus Legends and the preview booklet to book 4 that you got for buying Desperation and the Regulators together (I didn't buy the books, just knew someone at the bookstore). Jae Lee's art looks fantastic and appropriate- I was thinking it might be too dark based on his Inhumans work and other recent examples. If you haven't read the series, but like comics, I recommend picking up the first three at your local library when you get a chance. Or, just wait til the comics come out, and spend 3 bucks on one. If you like the tone set by those, you'll probably really enjoy the novel, and then you can start whining like the rest of us about how book 6 was really just filler, book 7 was strangely paced, and how you were expecting more at the end... -Tony! Will read the new Wheel of Time book, but might need a refresher course because he can't stand to reread Jordan's long-winded narration and asinine characters.
