    I know the toys are remolds with targetmasters of Jazz and Inferno, but what about the characters? Where they just Jazz and Inferno who took new names when they got their TMs, or are they completely different characters who just use the same body like so many other G1 characters?

    Well, for Stepper, you could have just looked up the bio of the US-released Commemorative Series Ricochet, which states:

    Doesn't sound very Jazz-y to me. :) 

    Stepper's more elaborate Japanese Transformers Collection reissue bio (translation by Doug Dlin, salvaged from the old BWTF site's archives) includes another gem:

    Fusion was Bluestreak's friend who died back on Cybertron, at the beginning of the war. In the Marvel UK Annual story "And There Shall Come... A Leader". That's Hirofumi Ichikawa for you. :p
