Stephen King's time traveling epic, in which an English teacher travels back in time to prevent the assinination of JFK, will now be a HULU series. James Franco will play the lead. The actor/writer/producer/director/teacher is set to headline the new Hulu series from J.J. Abrams and Stephen King, TVGuide.com has learned. Based upon King's bestselling 2011 novel 11/22/63, the series of the same name tells the story of a high school English teacher named Jake Epping (Franco) who travels back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. However, things get complicated quickly thanks to shooter Lee Harvey Oswald, Jake's falling in love and the past Franco will also serve as a producer on the nine-hour event series, which Hulu ordered in September. https://tv.yahoo.com/news/james-franco-headline-hulu-series-j-j-abrams-200003490.html
The book is awesome, it's one of Stephen King's top 5 I would say, and I'm a big King fan. I really hope this series doesn't turn out like Under the Dome, because that was also a great book, but the TV adaptation was very disappointing. Spoiler There is a part in the book where he goes back in time and visits Darry, where "It" takes place, and actually has a conversation with two of the kids from "It" that are teenagers in that time frame. I doubt they would include that in the TV series though.
Well I've already got Hulu because I use as sort of my DVR since I work nights. I've been pretty happy with the stream exclusive series so I think I'm going to get my hopes up on this. It seems like exclusive series get a bit more creative freedom than the shows that have to depend on a traditional network that has to be happy episode to episode.
Oh I liked this book wait... Stirke 1: Franco Strike 2: Abrams Yeah, no. I'll just reread the book like I did with Under the Dome.
I want to read the book because I love the premise. I think this could work really well in a miniseries format. Stephen King adaptations are usually hit or miss though.
I heard something about a series with a traveler to stop the assignation of JFK, but missed other details, King huh? This sounds like it 'should' be good.
I absolutely LOVED this book, one of my favorites. I remain cautiously optimistic regarding the adaptation but if it sucks I can always just reread the book
Sounds like a ripoff of a 1990's tv movie called Running Against Time. Running Against Time (TV Movie 1990) - IMDb
They did an entire episode of Red Dwarf on going back in time and screwing up the Kennedy Assassination. One of the better episodes too.
