Could it be a cause of Decepticon sciences?

In Alternity, Starscream's spark core in basically invincible, so my guess is when Starscream died it only took his body, but his spark is part of Alternity Starscream, which would make him into a Ghost.

    I like Alternity fiction. :D

I could see that....if we were talking about Starscream from the G1 comics from Marvel.

Well, we're talking about Beast Wars whose Generation 1 is really a sort of nebulous amalgam of elements from the cartoon and comic continuities, so it could very well be possible it happened at some point to Starscream ;)

off topic but I like his personality so far in PRIME, a competent tactician who occasionally forgets Megatron is his Supreme Commander. Quietly cunning, wouldn't mind if the PRIME series explored his origins.

I always thought it might of been a side effect from his days before the war. Maybe going to a different world had a strange effect on his spark. Or perhaps he was trying a new method with energon and got some type of radiation that changed his spark.

Starscream used to be a scientist before the civil war so who knows what he did that drove him intially evil. At the same time Jetfire/skyfire , his partner is the extreme opposite trying to find peaceful ways out of things or avoidance of violence altogether. G1 anyway.

and that lines up with the wfc story. Starscream was intially a 3rd factor in the war. A leader never leaves those habits behind.

Just because its remotely possible isint reason enough to suggest it happened.
The problem with that thinking is that Beast Wars never really refrance anything from the comics other then the names "Primus" and the "Ark".

I wasn't actually suggesting that it remotely happened - that's actually why I edited that post to suggest the more nebulous pre-Beast Wars G1 idea. I was actually just being facetious more than anything - it could be just as much an explanation as anything else, because we don't have an explanation (yet) and anything we suggest is just speculatuon.

    True enough.

What do you mean by "nebulous"?/

Just that it was a potentially unclear which G1 continuity Beast Wars continued from (I personally think it just follows the G1 cartoon, but it suited my post about the Underbase to mention it being potentially unclear).

Oh that’s simple, like the old saying goes: The road to “Hell” is paved with good intentions.

I don't know how some discovery he came across would be simple. Whatever it may have been had tainted him initially. In WFC we see it was the discovery of dark energon. Maybe this can be retconned to g1. Or maybe he came up with a new source of energon extraction that had a horrible side effect. Or maybe something in one of the space expeditions. Suddenly not so simple is it?

Less words doesn't equate to simple.

Now that would be a good explanation for his spark mutation - a side effect of experimenting with dark energon.
