What do you guys feel are Starscream's greatest failures and victories? This is just a bit of a fun thread. I was curious after having a conversation with my buddy about what other people opinions were. any starscream from any franchise/show is fine For me personally though I would have to go with his greatest victory would be becoming the Elected leader of Cybertron as a whole in IDW. the whole situation speaks for itself honestly. With his greatest failure being the Red Energon fiasco in Transformers: Prime.... he was handed ABSOLUTE VICTORY on a friggin silver platter, and he wasted it completely and utterly. that fact that he DIDN'T immediately kill every single Autobot the moment he used the red energon, and instead just stole the omega keys and let time ran out, instead of just killing everyone first and THEN stealing the keys.
I think his greatest failure would come from G1. He was constantly announcing his desire to takeover leadership from Megatron. Had he kept his mouth shut and had less of an ego, he may have convinced more Decepticons that his intelligence and level-headedness made him the better leader over Megatron's lunacy. So in effect, his greatest failure was the lack of self control.
I'm going to give Live-Action Scream some credit and say he had some pretty big accomplishments. He lead the entire Decepticon army in the comic Reign of Starscream. Failures, I have to say dumping the wounded Decepticons in the 86 movie. I don't think he would've died if he kept Megatron instead of dumping him in space.
I think Starscream's coronation in the '86 movie was both a win and a failure. The guy reached his goal as leader of the Decepticons but literally right as he was crowned, Galvatron killed him.
My pick for his most successful outing was in the episode from Cybertron where he defeated about 11 Autobots on a bridge rather fairly, only needing to resort to underhanded tactics to best Prime and steal the Omega Lock. His biggest failure might be not going after his own body laying dormant in the Ark when his spark visited prehistoric earth in Beast Wars.
Greatest failure? Probably the time in G1 when his firing ended up getting Optimus Prime repaired, who then got the others repaired. Greatest victory? When he was powered by a fragment of the Allspark in Transformers Animated. He couldn't be killed at that time regardless how many times Megatron tried to do so.
Greatest victory would be in "Starscream's Brigade" when he built the Combaticons and used them to defeat Megatron. He actually got Megatron to concede that he was the new Decepticon leader, and that felt really momentous at the time. ...For about three seconds until Menasor sneaked up behind Bruticus and pounded him into the ground. But for those three seconds, Starscream was the BOSS.
Honestly, one victory for him would be that time he became king of the Decepticons... ...for about two minutes before Galvatron blew him up. But then he became a ghost and got his own body back, which I guess you can say is an accomplishment. failures however- -getting his foot blown off -creating a bunch of clones who ended up betraying him later -Getting killed by bumblebee -getting killed by megatron. -having a montage of him getting killed by megatron -being reduced to a talking head with megatron, being trapped in space in the process. And to rub salt into the wound, some human took over his body after finding it. -getting killed again when Prowl reformed the all spark -Megatron making him admit that he's stupid -getting betrayed by the triple changers Man, the guy cannot catch a break.
I think it's impressive how Starscream managed to successfully trick Unicron into bringing him back to life. Too bad the battle that followed resulted in Starscream hurdling through space while screaming with Galvatron shooting at him in pursuit and Cyclonus wondering how a ghost can be hurdling out of control.
Greatest failure: too many too choose from? Greatest victory: the current IDW run is a contender, but I'm still choosing the Underbase saga in the Marvel Comics. Here Starscream tricked his commander, Ratbat, in letting him see data that could give a lot of power, then played the two Earth Decepticon Commanders against each other (keeping the presence of Scorponok a secret and not informing Ratbat that this other group was coming so there was suspicion from the start, followed by making sure Scorponok learned about the Underbase resulting in more friction and finally combat between the two groups weakening both, during which Starscream fled the planet stealing Scorponok's ship. Not only that, but before this he had dropped Buster somewhere on the Arctic ice with a Autobot homing beacon because he knew Buster would call the Autobots and then the Decepticons would attack the Autobots further weakening both groups. All so Starscream could claim the Database. He succeeded, but only partially making him stil more powerful than any Transformer and seriously injuring any who opposed him. (To be ultimately defeated by this very power when Optimus made sure he got it all.)
That was a good one. For his greatest victory, I think I'd have to go with the end of Armada. His actions led to the defeat of Unicron.
And to think, we almost got a scene where he gets revived by Slipstream. But nope, he just dies with an arguable patethic death. At least he still had dignity with his season 1 death.
His election in IDW is up there. The Giant Starscream arc of Cybertron is also a pretty good showing for the guy.
Wins: Armada and IDW Fails: The entire G1 series. Megatron loses his voice: IM THE LEADER NOW! Then it will be: *Megatron gets a papercut* "Ow" SS: MEGATRON HAS BEEN INJUERED, SAY HELLO TO YOUR NEW LEADER
Greatest Victory? In the G2 Comic when he first sold out the Autobots and Deceptions to Jhiaxus and then used the Matrix that Megatron had taken from Prime to merge with the War World. Greatest Defeat? When the Matrix started making him good and he had to relinquish it as he hated what it was making him do. (Think about the absolute humiliation that would be for him. Doing good)
