All right, so if I understood this correctly, they're letting these studios tell their own stories instead of just animating American writer's scripts, that's a lot more intriguing to me now.

I'm excited to see this series. It's like Love, Death and Robots meets Star Wars. I can't wait to see each studio's unique take on Star Wars. As someone who loves anime, anthologies and Star Wars, this is a perfect blend.

Instantly recognized Hiroyuki Imaishi's artstyle. He's gonna knock this one out of the goddamn park.

According to StarWars.com, he based this on the sibling dynamic between Luke and Leia, but with Dark Side users.
    The Duel also looks promising.

Amazing designs. Most notably, I see a Tusken, a Trandoshan, a Gonk Droid, a Dug piloting a Probe Droid, an Astromech wearing a straw hat, and a bunch of guys with kitbashed Stormtrooper armor.
    Tatooine Rhapsody looks fun!
    Seeing a couple familiar faces.

    Visions image threads: https://twitter.com/sleemo/status/1411449830535307265 imgur.com

Lio and his twin sister from Promare Karre and Am from Trigger's "The Twins", twins born into the Dark Side[IMG]guess it's a reverse of Jacen and Jaina. not a fan of Am's high heels though, so impractical.[IMG]There’s also this combined Star Destroyer[IMG]

Kazime Douga's "The Duel" is all black and white save for certain elements[IMG]like lightsabers. shading ought to be great for this.[IMG]look at that armor variety. these shorts aren't forced to adhere to the timeline, but seems to be set post-TROS?[IMG][IMG][IMG]man this Tusken looks cool.[IMG]

Production IG's "The Ninth Jedi" [IMG]Originally two stories, the teams decided to combine them together[IMG]Original stories were about eight warriors learning if they're Force-sensitive, and sabersmith and his daughter delivering sabers to the last of the Jedi ages after they've fallen into legend.[IMG]
[IMG][IMG]Those aren't Darksabers. however, only once have red blades with black cores appeared in Star Wars, and that's the final issue of Charles Soule's Vader run in a vision. This excites me.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

Kinema Citrus' "The Village Bride"[IMG]follows a fallen Jedi, but not in a way you’d expect. “It’s poetic, meditative, and romantically bittersweet,” Shirasaki said. “This short also approaches the Force in a really unique and surprising way, too.”[IMG][IMG][IMG]

    Geno Studio’s "Lop and Ochō"
[IMG]“The design style on this short really focuses on the collision between natural beauty and encroaching industrialization with the Empire representing the march of technology.”[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]Patrol troopers from Solo ASWS![IMG][IMG]K2 unit with weapons for hands! Dark Trooper with Purge Trooper weaponry![IMG]

Am and Karre are apparently reversals of Luke and Leia, according to StarWars.com. Your post is building up my hype!

OOOOOH, I still can’t believe how awesome this is already looking! Observation, that red droid looks like a weird version of HELPER from The Venture Bros. and have we ever seen bunny people in Star Wars until now?

Yup as stated above, to go further Jaxxon's race is called the Lepi and are still considered canon. The Lepi are also known to be carnivorous.

The running theory is that they are basis for the design of the LEP-Series Servant Droid.

I've never gotten into anime, but I must say I'm a bit intrigued by this. I'm glad they're doing this as an anthology of short films...I'm more likely to watch that than watch an ongoing anime series. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually expand a couple of the most popular shorts into larger series.

I actually like that this seems to be playing fast and loose with canon. Canon is all well and good, but there is something fun about the idea of just letting individual artists make something that interests them in the Star Wars universe, free of restrictions.

It's fun. It reminds me of when Dark Horse was producing the "Star Wars Tales" comic series. You went in knowing about 70% of these stories didn't care if they were canon or not, they were made for the fun of it, and some gems that wouldn't even fit into Legends continuity came from it.

It looks similar but that doesn't seem to be a Darktrooper to me, more like one of these Imperial sentry droids from Rebels.

yeah. Halo: Legends is another comparison, but all three of those are connected only by having multiple animation houses doing whatever story they want set in their franchise.
