The Daily Mirror reports that George Lucas will be writing a 100-episode Star Wars TV series about the rise of the Empire. The only actor from the films that is to appear in the TV show, is Anthony Daniels as C-3PO.
Yeah yeah, hurry up already. Been hearing about the damn thing since before RotS. While Daniels may be the only original actor from any of the movies (currently slated anyway), I hope he's not the only character to ever make an appearance. 100 episodes, 20 years of canon to fiddle with...not having Han/Chewie, Lando and Boba Fett make an appearance would be a colossal waste of the whole thing. For that matter...100 eps without Vader and the Emperor ever showing up would suck. McDiarmid FTW! On the other hand..huzzah for clones/stormtroopers.
It's going to blow harder than those "prequel" things he tried to palm off as movies. stop raping the dead horse George.
One of the heads of it (think Lucas but can't remember) was talking a while ago about how he wanted the actress playing the Twi'lek Jedi to act in the series, but I haven't heard anything about that... they were saying as a new character rather than the one she played in the prequels.
I want 100 episodes of Wookies kicking some Imperial ass. Until then my Star Wars RPG will have to do (damn wookie PC keeps ripping the arms off of my Stormtroopers)
Hrm. Gotta give it a shot, but I was honestly hoping for the Rogue / Wraith squadron series. Oh well.
I'm sure he's doing it for his legitimate artistic vision rather then the money. It's probably a sheer coincidence that he'll be taking just the right number of episodes to express that vision to make it highly profitable for syndication.
There are certain things that you can just write off without knowing anything specific about them. Such things include commercial American beer, the Doom movie, any new Apple computer, and most of Africa. This TV series joins those hallowed ranks.
*Looks at KA's sig.* Sometimes a lack of vision is a good thing. Haveta wait and see how the series goes.
As absolutely fucking horrible as 95% of prime-time TV has been for the past 6-7 years, I'm more than willing to give a Star Wars TV show a chance. I'll take a so-so Star Wars TV show over American Idol, fucking A Dancing/Skating/Fishing/etc. with "Celebrities" or pretty much anything on CBS.
