Maybe Felicity Jones is going to be a young Leia. The main 3 will have to be recast if the spinoffs are set during the OT and features them.

I don't think I've actually felt wanted or needed a female led Star Wars film but it's happening anyways and I'm very excited about it so I'm on board. The only thing in actually worried about is the director. I didn't really love his Godzilla movie I think I'll just reserve my judgement.
With a name of Rogue One, it makes me think of a Wedge movie since he was Rogue Leader in Jedi. While the news story makes it seem like Felicity is the main character (which I'm fine with), I wonder if they really just mean she's the lead female character. Carrie Fisher was the lead female in the OT (LOL considering there was maybe 5 other actresses in the whole thing) but she shared the top spots with Mark & Harrison.
Heaps of media outlets have been confirming she is the lead, there will be othere characters obviously but the initial rumours and the confirmation with an actress' name attached give us no reason to doubt it.
I'm sticking with my theory she is playing Leia. Death Star plans theft is good story where Leia would have a lot of involvement. Obvious end of the movie: Blockade Runner drops out of hyperspace above Tatoooine along with a pursuing Star Destroyer. Oh shit, there go the complainers about Tatoooine being in every SW film (except ESB but it was mentioned there)
Don't they already have Fisher's daughter playing a younger Leia in ep.VII? Would be weird to have another actress playing her in another movie. Not sure what to expect from this. Could end-up good, but could end-up being a completely uninteresting POS. Hopefully the potential failure of this doesn't keep them from doing some of the other offshoot movies they've talked about possibly doing.
I had this thought too. This seemed like a good idea for a second off shoot movie. The first being a guaranteed "name" hit, Fett, Yoda, Young Solo. More power to them though. I'll watch it.
It could be Fisher's daughter filmed scenes before they decided on Rogue One. Also could be Fisher's daughter is passable as Leia in a scene or two but she can't carry a whole movie. Is Carrie Fisher's daughter an actress? I've never seen her in anything. We don't know how Young Leia features into Ep 7. Might be a full on flashback or might just be a recording the characters watch & Young Leia is shown for 12 seconds.
This means that they will milk the brand til it's dry. Especially after they dumped half the canon. New sith wars movie? Nope.
