Star Wars prequel trilogy coming to 3D Blu-ray, Rogue One in editing, and new Star Wars TV in the works | News | Geek.com Found this by accident while looking for a release date for the TFA 3D blu Ray. I saw TPM in 3D, but was really looking forward to AotC and RotS. Finally migh get a chance to see these. Color me hopeful.
Yeah, I love 3D...even the old blue/red-lenses kind. Any chance I get to see a movie in 3D instead of 2D I always opt for 3D when I can! DEAL WITH IT.
The 3D conversion of TPM as I remember it was actually better than that of TFA (hard to make a more solid comparison until both 3DBDs are out). I was really hoping the sequel trilogy would be shot in 3D to avoid the conversion process.
Ep 1 was neat in 3D. I was really interested in seeing 3 in 3D. That opening space fight will be awesome. Sadly due to being Star Wars I wouldn't be surprised if they are $40 each.
But there's so much going on that my brain literally can't process everything and I can't follow the action! Oh wait. Yes I can. I was thinking of those poor brain-damaged Red Letter Media guys. Sucks to be them, 'cause that scene is awesome
Fuck yeah! Red Letter Media are vastly overrated anyway. In all honestly, there are internet reviewers in general out there that are better and more entertaining than them. They're not be-all end-all is all I'm saying.
They already did that, albeit discretely, in Ep. VII. Actually, the idea that they're rereleasing them in 3D finally seems to suggest that some of the rumored plot-revelations regarding Ep. VIII might be true and the rereleases are meant to jog everyone's memories about certain revelations from the prequels relevant to the new films, I'd wager. Intriguing!
Can we just get an unaltered original trilogy on Blu Ray or HD digital? That is all I want. It is ridiculous that it still hasn't been released. Seriously Disney, make it happen.
I remember the old plan to show all the movies in 3D. That was gonna be my first chance to see the OT on the big screen.
I'm aware of two references. One was when Maz Kanata not-so-subtly alluded to the prophecy. The other requires knowledge from outside of the actual film. Phasma's armor is supposed to be made from the armor plating of old Naboo fighters. I don't know what Disney's plans are, but the plan before the sale of Lucasfilm was to release all six films in 3D. A 3D Blu-Ray of The Force Awakens has already been announced for the near future as well.
Not the fighters, but the royal ships like Padme's in the PT. Phasma's chromium coating was actually salvaged from the Emperor's personal Naboo yacht (which may have been the same one that Padme had).
I stand corrected Still, it's hard to say that it's really a reference that's in the film itself. Even if that was the backstory they had going in, it's not really communicated at all to the audience. Talking about Phasma did remind me about another reference though. I believe Kylo Ren suggests at one point that they should've used clone troops.
Thanks, guys...I didn't even know about that one! I was thinking purely in-film, with the reference to prophecy and the podracing banners at the entrance to Maz Kanata's castle (which were indeed pretty damned discrete, lol). And, yeah, the clone troops were a good one, too. Although the OT allusions to the Clone Wars kinda brought the idea into the fold first.
