I think it will happen. The guy is really excited for it, and the people at Lucasfilm clearly want to tell more of his story. Just look at the Journals of Obi Wan issues from the current Marvel Star Wars comics. Obi Wan is one of my top three Star Wars characters, so I would love to see a sort of western style movie with him.

We already got closure for maul. He was finally killed by Obi-Wan as an old man in star wars rebels. And before that he had another big arc in clone wars. We probably know now more about maul than Luke or Anakin.

While I should start bitching at this point that they aren't getting far enough away from the main series with the inbetween ones, the potential for Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan with a decent script is something I could never turn down.

To be honest, i'd be up for a pre-TPM movie about Maul and Palps as well.

Glad we're finally getting confirmation. My only hope is that they go small for this one. Daldry as a director is promising since he definitely isn't known for big action films. Here's hoping for something more along the lines of a spaghetti western, possibly following a small family on Tatooine with Kenobi being involved, but isn't the main character.

 

I know everyone is clamoring for a space samurai ronin epic set on Tatooine, but what if this was set during the Clone Wars and Hayden co-starred? There's bound to be one story arc they could do from the canceled season 6-8 scripts.

Oh hell, what if we get a live-action adaptation of Boba vs Cad Bane?

 

That would be cool, making a movie out of a cancelled arc.

I so wish we could've had Maul vs Ben in live action, but man I can't imagine the hate it would've gotten had it played out just like on Rebels on screen. The backlash would've been insane, like Martha Wayne insane.

 

This is the only stand-alone spin-off that I wanted. Not Han Solo. Not Boba Fett. But Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan... in a good movie.

Someone online somewhere (I think it was Collider) mentioned Hiddleston as a young Palpatine, and I sort of dig it.

 

Get ready for all the idiotic fan theories casting and art.
