Anyone own any of those custom Lightsabers from the likes of Saberforge or Ultrasabers?

We inherited a Force FX Darth Vader Lightsaber from my brother in law and now I'm curious as to how the custom ones hold up to the Force FX ones.

    Thanks in advance!

They're high quality, but they're ungodly expensive. I keep looking at some but can't justify the price.

What're you looking for? Display pieces? That'll help with recommending them.

Ultrasabers, The Custom Saber Shop, and SaberForge have their own forum if you want to ask about their sabers. As for me, I only have an "Initiate" saber from roughly 2006, when those were still made with PVC pipes and not the machined aluminum they have now, but the luxeon LED is still super-bright.

Also, since we're starting a thread for lightsabers, I think this is appropriate:

Mostly for display. At most I just twirl the Vader one around when I'm bored.

I would like a custom one as some of the ones I've seen are pretty damned awesome looking. I figure prices are only going to go up with the new movies on the horizon. But like you said, the prices just add up if I want sound and blade.

This one was the one that caught my eye: Viper LED Sabers

If that's all I already recommend Saberforge over Ultrasabers.

Yeah, they're not awful if you don't want sound, but once you add that feature the price skyrockets. I honestly would love the Bane they have coming up, but I'm just not sure I can justify the cost. I have a Hasbro FX lightsaber and I'm not sure if I need to go higher than that. Plus I'm not sure if I'd buy a saber that had nothing to do with the films. Guess that's why their crystal reveal ROTJ Luke saber is so tempting.

Looks awesome, but I just can't say do it. If you're cool with the price then go for it, but don't impulse buy this stuff, you'll just regret it.

I've always like the FX sabers,i just like playing with mine.So they are out of the question. I'd love to have a custom saber with dueling grade tubes. There is nothing like waiting for nightfall for me and my kids to have saber duels in the yard.

This is the sight i'm talking about. Cause they aren't attached to Lucas. You have to wire and construct your saber yourself. jqsabers There are some nice blades on there.I'll have to check out those other sites.

    :lolol

At this point it seems like going with the official Force FX stuff would be far cheaper than buying a custom.

I'm thinking about Maul's double saber.

Hasbro's FX stuff isn't as good as MR's stuff was. Plus their ROTJ saber doesn't have a removable blade and that's a must for me.

Check your local craigslist for sabers if you want. My brother brought home two Master Replicas (both the Skywalker sabers) a few months ago, and I missed out on two Maul MR sabers that were going for $50 plus stand a little while ago ):

Master Replicas doesn't make the sabers anymore? I knew that Hasbro manufactures them now but I thought MR still had the designing done.

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye out on CL and Amazon.

The most beautiful of the Force FX sabers was the Anakin Skywalker one. It was a magnificent blue blade and it's just impressive.

Running neck and neck is the Luke Skywalker saber - it's just a wonderful green.

The Darth Maul saber is only good if you buy the ones with removable blades. The fully assembled staff is 7 feet and it's just impossible to display decently. That said, it's a must have from the mythos

The only gripe I have with the Vaders and the Mauls is that the red just isnt intense enough. You'll see what I mean if you see how impressive the anakin saber is.

Edit: The other blue sabers do not have the same intensity as the Anakin saber for whatever reason so it's kind of unique. It might actually be hard to get ahold of one.

Is there a difference between the Hasbro Force FX sabers and the ones from Master Replicas?

I'm eyeing the Force FX Maul saber with removable blades on HTS.

I have the Darth Vader MR one and the color change Darth Vader one from Hasbro. They are almost identical size wise, but there are a few very noticeable differences. First, the hasbro ones are about a foot shorter in the blade, the hilt is plastic rather than metal and the blade has about 1/3-1/2 as many LEDs in it. Some of the MR ones have removable blades, none of the Hasbro ones do. I've had the Hasbro Darth Maul one and I was pretty happy with it until I needed to sell it. Still pissed that I did becuase that's my favorite saber so far.

That's the Ultimate FX Saber, not the actual Hasbro FX saber that is supposed to be the equivalent to MR's sabers.

Razer, I like my Hasbro FX Kit Fisto saber fine, no real complaints. The quality isn't quite as good as MR's but it isn't terrible by any means for the price.

Yeah the color change one is the Ultimate FX from Hasbro (I bought it at Toys R Us). The other one is the Master Replicas one that I got as a souvenir from the Star Wars ride at Disneyland.

I agree with the quality of the recent Hasbro ones, I even got the recently reissued Yoda Saber and am pretty happy with it. I'd love to get another copy of the Darth Maul one and the ROTJ Luke Skywalker one.

I customized a saber with a company called random sabers before. I am not sure though that they exist or got bought out by another company. I customized mine to look like a combo of Vader's from ESB and Exar Kun. I wish I had a picture of it. It wasn't expensive either, $120 maybe, and it is of great quality. I never cared for the fx sabers. I do have a few MR sabers which are really nice but also $$.

Awesome. I'll probably go after the Hasbro Force FX Maul sabers then.

I should buy the set now since there's free shipping but I'm short on funds after Christmas shopping. I guess I'll have to wait for a discount code.

Now i'm getting confused on which sabers are being talked about(not hard to do). Are those both different types of the nicer sabers or is the other the line of sabers from walmart? May be a dumb question. Only ever heard(or seen)the MR and walmart style lines.

I'm planning to turn the walmart version into a double blade with some PVC pipe.Shouldn't be hard to do.wish i could get another Luke version for the green. I found too that if you happen to break the lightstrip. You can fix it.I made a short blade because of it.I won't even use my Luke saber in my duels with the kids cause i'm scared of breaking it.I think the green and blue sabers have the best glow to them.
