It certainly would be really neat if KOTOR II also gets a digital re-release for the Nintendo Switch somewhere down the line.

 

If the dozens of TV shows keep being as good as they have been, I'm honestly fine with that.

Okay.

 

Yeah, the TV part seems fine. The only cancelled project there was Rangers of the Republic, as far as we know. And that's an understandable one where an actress decided to shoot herself in the foot. Repeatedly.

On the movie side it sounds like things are a mess. I'm wondering if we have the reverse problem from the early MCU. Over on that side of the fence, the TV side struggled because the movies largely ignored the shows, and the shows couldn't touch anything that might mess up a future movie project while the directors had a pretty free hand.

It sounds like the movie projects fell apart because Jenkins and RJ were getting micromanaged. We haven't heard that same thing from the Disney Plus side of the fence in Star Wars. Maybe the TV side is in the driver seat for Star Wars?

 

People have wanted Kathleen to get fired for years, but at this point it's too late. I can't be bothered to care anymore. I say screw it, just let it all burn down. She should have gotten kicked after the Rogue One fiasco. Maybe they wouldn't be in this situation right now.

 

They should have CONSIDERED kicking her out after that, they should've kicked her out after Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker

 

I don't understand. I thought Kathleen Kennedy was going to get fired and Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau were going to takeover the company, therefore winning the Lucasfilm Civil War. That's what all my favorite clickbait Youtubers were saying and they wouldn't lie to me.

 

Reality is often dissapointing.

 

I mean, I don't really care much either way. I just think its funny that those guys have gone on and on about Kennedy getting fired and that it was inevitable and then this happens.  

 

You're hilariously right, though after the sequel trilogy you'd think that.

 

It's possible that the people who see the actual accounting of the books know that Lucasfilm is doing great from a business standpoint and a lot of this supposed behind-the-scenes drama is just an overblown internet rumor mill making the usual Hollywood development hiccups out to be more than they are.

 

I don't hate (or really even dislike) Kathleen Kennedy, but I am ready for a change. I'm sure being a producer and head of a film studio is a lot of hard work and definitely not something to take for granted, but I do think Lucasfilm needs someone with a fresh vision. Mandalorian is great, and TFA and RO were fine. But TLJ was extremely divisive (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), and Solo flat-out failed. Pretty sure the theme park didn't do too great either. The toy sales infamously tanked post-TLJ. Not to mention the amount of directors she's fired, costing Lucasfilm who-knows-how-much time and money. I don't think she's an awful studio head, but she doesn't seem nearly as efficient or visionary as someone like Kevin Feige.

All that being said, I blame Bob Iger for stuff like Solo failing and the Sequel Trilogy being rushed far more than I blame Kennedy. I wish we could have seen Kennedy's sequel trilogy without Bob Iger's stupid deadlines...with three years between movies instead of two...I feel like it would have been way better.

It feels like a lot of current Star Wars is feeling around in the dark for what works and what doesn't. It's easy to blame Kennedy, but who knows how another president would have faired. They could have done even worse for all we know. Maybe Star Wars is where Marvel was in the '90s and early 2000s...still trying to find their footing. I mean, trying to do Star Wars without Lucas has to be hard. Especially since the story was complete. Hopefully Kennedy can turn things around in the next few years. I'm totally open to the idea that they might find their footing post-Mandalorian and get things right this time. But if the next three years are a repeat of the past nine, I think this should be Kennedy's last renewal. I guess we'll see.

 

I feel the same way. There's not really anything that can fix the damage by this point. Star Wars movies are dead.

With all that Disney got wrong with the movies, I look at Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 as a gift. If everything afterwards sucked, at least we have 16 episodes of post-ROTJ goodness that ends on a really high note.

But after a while and the same song and dance I concluded that either Doom was full of crap or his “connections” were.
You can hide behind the word “rumor” only for so long.

And rise of Skywalker debacle. And the Solo one...
