I think we have got distracted and derailed from what is really important.

Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy on ‘Rise of Skywalker’ and the Future of ‘Star Wars’

This one is interesting too. Kennedy compares TLJ to Temple of Doom. That’s interesting as for me, Temple is the Indy movie I refuse to acknowledge. It’s so different and strange compared to the others that I actually prefer Crystal Skull to it. I will not watch it again and I don’t own it digitally. I only buy it as part of boxed sets.

But I do know folks that love Temple because it’s so different and strange. It shows us a different side of Indy and expands his universe quite a bit away from just Judeo-Christian legends and Nazi’s.

I think that analogy helps me understand why people may not like TLJ.

Folks, we cleaned up this latest round of unnecessary drama.

I feel I need to remind everyone once again of the rules:

    1. No Insults, Trolling, Flaming, Name Calling, Harassing, Etc.
    We will not tolerate
insults, excessive profanity or throwing a topic off course. Use of racial, bigoted, sexist, or discriminatory terms or phrases is not accepted. Posts intended solely to antagonize others are not accepted. Keep topics/posts where they belong. Generally, “play nice”.

    3. No Politics, Religion or Abortion
This includes signatures, user titles and avatars. Political jokes and links to news stories with a political nature are also off limits.

    7. No Public Discussion On Staff Actions
Do not mouth off or publicly question staff decisions. If you have a problem, comment or question, contact a member of the TFW2005 Staff.

    10. Keep Off-Site Drama Off This Site
If you had a disagreement or falling out with someone on another site or in real life, if you had a deal go sour on another website or whatever. If it happened elsewhere then don't bring it here. Leave your grievances at the door.

    13. No Disruptive Posting or Flamebaiting
Do not purposely post anything which will cause another member (or members) to react negatively.
This is subjective. The TFW2005 staff will evaluate the trend of posts made by those consistently being reported or those that are repeatedly involved with arguments on the site. If their overall method or content of posting leads to staff attention repeatedly, we reserve the right to warn, infract and/or ban accordingly.

That being said, regarding Rule 10, this includes posting screenshots of random opinions from social media and dropping it here in the TFW2005 forums.

Unless it's news directly related to the topic being discussed in the thread (ie. social media posts from the actual show or movie creators themselves or those channels officially reporting on them), that's inviting unnecessary drama to this site just to illicit fan outrage, which is highly discouraged.

Let's get back on topic, which is Star Wars, rather than the politics surrounding it. Thank you.

While I appreciate the effort and willingness to understand the opinions of others...

    ... but ...

Temple of Doom was all Lucas that’s why it’s so good.

I personally love Temple of Doom, but I know it was the least liked Indy movie (until Crystal Skull), so I'm not sure comparing TLJ to it is helping at all...

I'm not sure I would characterize it as "under the bus". She goes out of her way to make what JJ did sound justified and unavoidable. But it is kinda funny that she's all like I know George really well and we still get along and then follows it with basically but JJ came in with such enthusiasm and changed stuff to his own liking.

That is about as close as you're going to get in most cases with Hollywood. Especially when the movie is not out yet. If she had any faith in the film, she'd be playing up how much she influenced the film.

I think it is ridiculous that he thinks he has to wrap up 9 movies instead of only three. No one asked for that. I think everyone thought the first 6 were wrapped up until JJ made the choice to bring back Palpatine. Until then, Luke and Co. had definitely solved the main problem the previous (PT) generation couldn't.

Now they are framing IX as the NT generation finally solving the problems left to them by the previous (OT and PT) generations. The one that ended the empire, and re-installed a democracy across an entire galaxy. The first order is a *new* problem. They haven't existed long enough to be considered fall out from the previous generation, and to be fair, Leia was one of the few people in the New Republic to take them as a credible threat. So it's not like everyone was kicking the can down the road.

    Ain't broke, don't fix it.

That's the main fault with the idea of wrapping up the PT and OT instead of their WannabeWars doing their own thing. Lucas's storyline already had a conclusion.

This is one of my issues with the ST... it's changed the overall narrative of Star Wars. Now it seems to be about each new generation having to fix the problems of the old generation. And here I thought the major story if you go from episode one to episode six was the rise, fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker.

She's the one responsible for this. Abrams and Johnson are the henchmen hired for the job.

And, of course, they have to keep missing the point(s) in regards to the film saga as a whole.

Also, here's a little cartoon comic I thought was a bit amusing:

But ol Georgie Boy put her in charge. Sure she lied to his face about protecting the characters, so maybe she is Palpy to George's Darth Plagueis.

Which is an even bigger deal when you consider that Lucas believes teaching the next generation to avoid repeating the same cycles and mistakes is the whole damn point of storytelling. So far, the sequels would make it seem fixing and then repeating the same problems is inevitable.

Of Anakin and also of a Republic.

So which one is Kylo and which one is Hux? :p
    Or perhaps he's Representative Binks?

I think JJ fits for Hux more. Very passionate about doing things by the numbers but it doesn't get him anywhere anyway.

Johnson is more for subverting expectations like stabbing his old master for teh lulz.
