Was looking at Yakface at Black Series rumors and was thinking about the Empire Strikes Back 40th anniversary. The only figures I can think of in this line are Boba Fett Yoda Lando Leia Hoth Han Solo Hoth Bossk IG-88 4-LOM Zuckuss Dengar At-At Driver Snowtrooper Luke Skywalker Dagobah Any I am missing?
If they could get Luke’s 3-D face printing established correctly, I would love a redo of Luke Bespin. Would also rank Luke Hoth, Han Hoth, and Leia Bespin (with soft-goods) high on the list. An accurately scaled ESB Chewbacca would round out the top 5 for me. With 3-P0 parts would be a great deluxe set if they did it right although I’d prefer to separate figures so I could purchase them both over time. I don’t buy many 6-inch SW figures because my 3 3/4 collection is already very large but I caved with Bespin Han and Hoth Leia last year because of the amazing head sculpts. Perhaps they reissue the Stormtrooper so I can get one one day. Lobot would also be a neat addition.
If they do like ANH, it would be the first wave of ESB figures. Here it is. So the NEW figures they'd have to make are Bespin Leia, Bespin Guard, Hoth Rebel and FX-7. A main character and 2 potential army builders & a droid.
I wish, they'd complete the ANH vintage figures in BS. All they'd need are Hammerhead, Snaggletooth, Walrus Man, Power Droid and Death Star Droid.
The newer vehicles reeked of "LET US KILL THE 3.75 LINE SO THAT WE WILL FORCE THE HAND OF COLLECTORS AND SWAY THEM TO 6" BLACK SERIES". Seems like a marketing directive from hell gone terribly wrong. They can blame Solo's performance at the box office all they want, subpar toys are never going to sell well and they largely hate to admit it. Maybe Disney got greedy, maybe Lego waged another Star War behind the scenes, who knows. Just look at the 3.75 Poe X-wing and compare it to the Vintage Collection Biggs X-Wing, it's seeing what could've definitely been had the Force been stronger with Hasbro as it was in 2008. I won't buy another BS Stormtrooper until Hasbro redoes it, at least the hips. The range of motion is very disappointing. I'm okay with the arms but the legs, no.
This may be a fruitless effort, but if anyone here is going to Galaxy's Edge, I'd like to organize a purchase of the three exclusives. This is mainly assuming that they'll never be released at disney stores. If anyone does wish to help, I do live in Southern CA so I can pick them up quite easily.
I'm still kinda questioning my decision to let my Disney Annual Passes expire earlier this year after having them for several years already. Oh well.
That’s a solid list man! I’ll add in Vader and Lobot too! Nope they haven’t! Good recommendation! If I recall correctly, the 40th anniversary was based on ANH and the first release was ROTJ (I could be wrong on this). Yeah man, I recall the X-Wing because TCracker and I were looking at some SW stuff and not only did we compare the simplicity but the prices too...definitely not value for $. For me, I won’t be getting Poe’s X-Wing even if they use the Trench Run/Vintage mould...I’m at the stage where I just want to wind down on Star Wars collecting. My focus will be on the unreleased OT (Ewoks, Bib Fortuna and redo of Han and Luke) and PT (Dooku, Battle Droids, Super Battle Droids and Mace) characters. I can’t really see myself getting into the newer stuff...maybe Crait Luke in 6 inch form?
If there are only 2 then that is the case, because 1.0 has the removable helmet and 2.0 is technically a Rogue One/ ANH Anniversary combined figure. It has the green buttons and the red eyes. Crait Luke is my biggest wish for Black Series right now. I'm almost scared of the Knights of Ren, who's going to be Amazon Exclusive, who's going to be exclusive to a four pack with Cyber-Zuvio and Transparent Palpatine or whatever they wind up sending to GameStop, etc etc. There's like six of the suckers, and after the Imperial Guard shenanigans I wouldn't put anything past them.
I agree. I ponder over selling all of my 3.75 inch Star Wars figures and being a Black Series collector only.
