    Rey is
    no one
so she can take the Skywalker name. Like Anakin.
I think there is some level sexual tension between these two. Would be interesting if they had a kid.

True, she could adopt the name, but the only true Skywalker is Ben Solo.
Anakin never adopted the name. That's his birth name. His mom is Shimi Skywalker.

The NASA sources in the article I linked say otherwise. 15 secs of consciousness, longer to die.

Here's another article that agrees: 15 secs of consciousness, 90 seconds to die, 12 hours to freeze.

Here's how long humans could survive in space without a spacesuit

People need to move on from this part. It is not disqualifying. I wouldn't be surprised if Johnson checked with real astronauts.

Yeah, it is what it is. I really like the scene for the misdirection. You see Leia's face as she prepares for the impact thinking she is making peace with life but when the film cuts back to what just happened to her, she has the same facial expression and...you know the rest.

I know but she has no name And I think she is another
    virgin birth / force creation
to balance the rising power of Snoke and Ben since Luke was closed from the force. Snoke basically says it. The light would rise to meet the darkness.

and Poe and Finn are definitely shipped.

Even if (and I mean IF) we give that a pass, he was still using telekinesis out of nowhere by the second movie, which is something he had never personally seen be done and achieved without any training.

NASA have anything on Space Slugs? Like how long can you survive inside a Space Slug? You know assuming you have the mouthpiece from a respirator and the Mynocks don't eat your power cables?

Didn't the establish in the comic that you can survive in space for a short (like 20 seconds) when Vader threw Dr Alphwhatshername out the airlock and Triple 0 and BT-1 rescued her since she played Vader.

Yeah, I noticed this right away in the theater. It would've worked if there were two doors and a short hallway/chamber leading into the bridge for recompression. Seeemed like an oversight on the part of the set designers/writers, especially if ship bridges are prime targets for attack (and they are).

One thing I didn't get is Kylo wanted Rey to say her parents are "nobody". It just seems The Director is trolling the fandom there. Why would she ever say they are "nobody"? She would say they are "farmers" or "traders", but it would be pretty conceited on her part to put any kind of importance on the social status of her parents. Only us fans would ponder that kind of importance. It almost seemed like some bad 4th wall break, to talk to the people watching the movie?

I really hope either Snoke comes back or a new villain is introduced. We need a big bad that we can love to fear, similar to Vader. Kylo and Hux are just sniveling bratty kids, I don't think I can take that for a whole movie with out some more insidious villain along with them.

You can sense the sexual tension between Rey and Kylo, but ultimately I hope they do reveal she is a Solo or Skywalker. We spent all of TFA seeing her yearning for her family. I would hope she finds it in the real sense (blood relatives). It seems Finn is going to wind up with Rose (a love triangle with Rey would be awful to imagine), and ending up with Kylo is doubtful ... It would be sad for Rey to have no love interest by the end of this trilogy, so why not at least give her a lineage?

I guess I would have rather seen Rey wind up with Finn, give her a bloodline, and Snoke still alive. I do like how Luke's story played out though, but it would have been nice to see him kick some butt on a First Order space ship ala Old Obiwan ....

I'm confident JJ can finish the trilogy strong, which may change peoples perception of TLJ in a more positive light.

have you guys not notice how hangar bays in SW just open to the void of space?

i know theyre explained by shield generators n what not but SW movies just arent the best franchise to discuss the technical aspects of science.

I didn't see a shield generator (just a neon/LED light) around the door frame leading into the bridge but I suppose that would do the trick too.

Speaking of SW tech, I did notice that the new movies more or less did away with bacta tanks in favor of the bacta-filled med suit that Finn wore at the start of the movie. Ditto when Leia was hospitalized.

I was sorta hoping they would show or hint at some cybernetics for Finn's spinal column after he took Kylo's lightsaber to the back in TFA. That kind of injury really didn't seem like something only a few hours in a bacta-filled suit would fix much less for Finn to make a full recovery from in a day?

The injury was to his shoulder not his spine. Very fortunate.

By the way, did anyone even tell Finn that the girl who save his life went to become a Jedi or was the ending when he discovered that fact?

Shoulder, eh? It really looked much deeper and more serious to me than just the shoulder but I guess that would explain his quick recovery (though a shoulder injury would still hurt like hell, not sure that Finn would've passed out from it; ah well, Rey needed her big heroic moment).

I'd assume Leia told Finn what happened to Rey, since apparently Poe had never formally introduced himself to her until near the end of TLJ.

That just reminds me of how awful a change of direction this film is compared to the last. We're literally talking about TLJ picking up right where TFA ends, and the resistance goes from having a major victory against the FO, (that should have put them on the ropes) to being on the verge of annihilation within the span of a couple days.

The portrayal of influence and power for both sides makes no sense when comparing the two movies.

Ok crazy fan theory time. Could some or all of the scenes featuring Obi-one-kenobi in A new hope have been a projected force ghost? This would explain his strange death.

The only thing directly contradicting it is how Vader’s lightsaber clashed physically with Obi ones lightsaber but perhaps he was levitating his clothing and a lightsaber whilst Luke was really far away with nothing to levitate there.

Woah, woah, woah. She ripped it out of the grasp of and fought with a dark Jedi who had just been hit in the waist by a gun that the same movie had used two separate instances to establish was exceedingly powerful. Did you not notice him continuously beating his wound during the fight? Or that in this movie the first thing Snoke does is ask about his wound? Kylo was suffering from a grevious, potentially life-threatening injury during that whole fight. The movie wasn't even subtle about it!

So, I just saw this - Honestly... yeah it was better than VII and Rogue One but only just because it was more action-packed and entertaining. But it was still incredibly dumb and just sooo lacked characterisation. It reminded me again why I prefer Trek to Wars...

Seriously Hollywood, stop with the nostalgia factor! I hate whenever Doug or other movie critics start the tired old "CGI is not real, real effects are better" thing because... boy were the effects terrible in some cases. Yoda appears as a force ghost and my brother said he looked like his own rubber Yoda puppet. When he moves it's like you can see the bloody hand moving the puppet. Same with the porgs, these Furby-like puffin/seal mascots that are everywhere - they are so incredibly fake looking! I am sorry but with millions of dollars, JJ Abrams, you could have pulled off something like Avatar did. What's next, we will have Pacific Rim with actors in costumes for kaiju, or claymation monsters? Or we go back to silent B&W films? I am sorry people, cinema is about evolution, and at this point, yeah, CGI - when done properly - can do things far better than puppets.

But my biggest gripe remains lack of explanations and lack of character development. And retreading the same old story again. Basically this movie was parts of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi reworked into one. They are again, just repeating themselves, but on a bigger scale. I feel they also prematurely fired off their biggest guns, because I really don't see much of a final showdown in the next episode now - I am guessing Kylo will build a second Starkiller base maybe? And Porgs will defeat the First Order like Ewoks did? LOL. :D  Because that scene with Palpatine v2.0 where he shows Rey "see your friends are dying, haha, give in to the dark side" was almost a line by line repeat of old Palpy's speech to Luke. Except, making no sense, since Snoke wanted to kill Rey, not turn her.

On story, well, we still have no effin' idea who Supreme Leader Snoke is, and now, I doubt we will ever find out. What a load of disappointment, the Emperor-stand-in cut in half without any fight whatsoever. He went out not with a bang, but with a whimper. And without explaining WHERE this super powerful Sith came from and why he is deformed. I mean, I know why, because the Emperor looked like a California Raisin and JJ Abrams has no original bone in his body, but other than that...

And characterisation is so lacking! We had some pink haired rebel admiral lady introduced who becomes a big thing and Leia supposedly is a good friend of hers and... why am I supposed to care? Why did they not introduce and build her up in VII? Oh and miss shiney chrome armor, Phasma? She exists the same way as she entered, not mattering at all despite all the merchandising she had. Y'know JJ, Boba Fett actually DID stuff, like take on a Jedi, not just look cool. GUH. Oh and since this is Empire Strikes Back v2.0, we have a new Lando played by Benicio del Toro - I wish I could tell you his name, but his character is so important, they NEVER even name him!!! Just... what terrible writing was this? Poe gets characterisation, but I wish he didn't, 'cause it is spent on him trying to save the rebels via rebelling against his own leaders, and it turns out to be totally not neccessary. This could all have been avoided if pink haired lady would have SHARED her plans with the others.
And poor Admiral Ackbar, killed off-screen. He did not even have the chance to yell "It's a TRAP!" one last time. :(

And not many new aliens either, apart from a casino planet where we see some cool designs super briefly. Same as the tavern scene last movie, where we had cool designs who never got toys. Oh and yeah, the movie tries to be deep about powerty and arms dealing being bad during those scenes.

As for Luke, I quote Kevin Sorbo with "DISSSA-POINTED!!!" He sits on his ass all movie on one island because of a mistake he made with Kylo, half-heartedly trains Rey (but not really), and well, he not even leaves the island to have a final showdown with Kylo... something I would have been OK with actually, as it was a clever move (even if I never knew Jedi could create illusions from planets away), but despite promising to see Kylo again, then he disappears Obi-Wan style. Sure, I bet he will be back as a force ghost, but dammit, I wanted a real lightsaber duel between him and that horse-faced brat.
Kylo's deal I still don't get. So he resists the dark side to kill his mother, and conspires with Rey to kill Snoke, but then he is right back to the classic Sith "Join me and rule the galaxy side by side as...I dunno, girlfriend ?" With predictable results. He is also hard to take seriously despite his power, due to the ridiculous temper tantrums he throws.
And Hux... Snoke tries to explain why he keeps this idiot around, but seriously, that moron could not lead a parade, let alone an army. "Oh the empty rebel ship we know was left behind on a suicide mission is turning towards us and engaging warp drives, erm, hyperspace drives, that's no biggie, ignore it ...OH SH*T!"
Speaking of that, compared to Trek the technology of SW makes no sense. So apparently, the ships now have Trek-like force shields... sometimes? But bombers work by flying OVER a dreadnaught and dropping bombs on them, WWII bomber style. Just... HOW? There is no bloody gravity in space, the bombs would just float... and what about shields??? Did they magically disappear then?
Also, you can apparently decimate a whole fleet of star destroyers by going to hyperspeed and ramming the armada. WHY did the rebels not do this before? They could even use droids to pilot the ships. Heck, I wished instead of sacrificing an admiral, this could have been the time to give C3-PO a heroic sendoff, he could have volunteered for the job saying he is not really alive. At any rate, since the rebels are prone to suicide missions, why don't they do this more often, use cheap ships with a hyperdrive kamikaze-style?
I am totally surprised about Leia too - despite the actress dying, she was not written out, and apparently she has Jedi powers she can use when her life is in danger? I did not know Jedi can apparently, survive in space. I recall Anakin almost died like this once in Clone Wars.

All in all, entertaining, but annoying movie. Raised more questions again than it answered, and those it answered, it did not do in a satisfying manner.

Tough shit really, life got in the way of the film and he needed make it work. Bringing her back completely ruins the emotional punch that came before it, for me it made Leia's story ark much less moving. Leia not finishing with Poe would teach him more of a lesson about the finality of war and not being able to charm his way out of problems, help him grow as a character and give him a tougher lesson than being sat on the naughty step. Chewie hug is just fanboy nonsense. Leia doesn't have to be alive for Luke to say goodbye to her, the Resistance could have retrived her body from space and brought it along to the salt planet, Luke arrives, leaves the dice with her and the dice and Leia all dissappear into force together at the end.
