More physical? Does this mean he will cast aside weaponised combat just to punch Kylo Ren in the face?!
Well, it will be interesting to see where this goes. It should be similar to the path of SW2 or SW5 (things getting more personal, more high-stakes), but in some original new manner we can only guess at for now. And I can't wait to see Luke back in action! That was denied to me in SW7, but hopefully here he will get a greater presence.
I am hoping that VIII will function very similarly to ESB in that it offers plenty of explanations and allows the bad guys a crucial win. Bring it on I say!!
I'm hopping that Artoo was really slow getting up all those steps at the end of VII, but by the time VIII rolls around, he'll be there with Luke (and Rey). The way it should be.
While I don't have an issue with TFA's similarities to ANH, I do hope that VIII takes a much more original approach. Since the homages and parallels seemed to be largely spearheaded by JJ, I think Rian Johnson will aim to bring something new to the table.
I loved The Force Awakens, but I really hope they go more original with VIII. A few things will be unavoidable though. One of the things that makes The Empire Strikes Back so great is that it really dives into the spirituality of The Force, and I expect something similar with Rey and Luke. There will obviously be some differences though since we will have a contrast to that with Kylo Ren's training. That is exciting to me because we will see dark side training for the first time, and we will get to see how they view the Force more specifically. I think Rey will be separated from the other characters from The Force Awakens for at least the first half of the movie too. I think we will get some revelations too (especially with regards to Rey's past). I think Rian Johnson is a better director than JJ Abrams too, so I believe Episode VIII will be even better. I wonder when they will reveal the full title.
I agree completely. I love TFA, but if the beginning of the film includes a First Order search for a Resistance Base on an ice planet, and the climax takes place in a floating city, I'm going to be shaking my head. I don't think that will happen, but I'm still hoping. I also hope we don't get a Death Star/Starkiller Base type super weapon in the next film. In the original trilogy the Rebellion is nowhere near as powerful or threatening as the Empire. In the prequels the Republic forces and Jedi Order are still in power and strong enough in some ways albeit in decline. I think this new trilogy needs to be in between the two; neither the First Order nor the New Republic/Resistance should be the overwhelming favorite, although the First Order and its villains still need to be threats.
