just read an interesting article that says they may need to use a double and cgi Harrison Ford's face in as cast and crew are on call but not on set.
Also in that article apparently JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy asked for a later date more specifically May 4th 2016 (yes the Captain America 3 date vs. Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice, wouldn't that be pitting Disney against Disney?)

Star Wars was already delayed from Summer of 2015 to December of 2015.

Husband and I were joking that if they did go with the May 4 2016 date the nerds (including us) would be like walkers outside the theater because it would be nerd overload, no one would know what to see.

 

THey wouldn't want May 4th 2016 since that is Captain America 3's release date. Plus, Batman/Superman is the week after.

It's akin to Star Trek fans crying that JJ Abrams has ruined Trek and the timeline has changed forever, yet even if both statements were true, it's not like Abrams seeks out every Trek fan, breaks into their home and sets fire to their TOS and TNG era DVDs or VHS tapes.

It's not so much that Lucas Film saying the EU is now null and void that bothers me, its just that it has dulled my interest in reading any of the books I haven't yet. Also it makes me leery of starting all over again with the new books that will try and fill the void in the SW Timeline now.

Depends how big their role is. They might be just getting to their scenes.

They might have already been cast awhile ago but they choose now to release the news.

(They were originally scheduled for a May 2015 release then got extended to December 2015 now JJ and Kathleen want THE date May 4 2016 yes the one that Captain America 3 and Dawn of Justice is battling over, however they were denied).
It just seems like they are having problems, a lot of problems.

 

Well, the time table they were given was unrealistic for a SW film. If you want one done right it's well established it takes about 3 years.

 

Yeah you can't just rush a production like this.

Besides May 4th, 2017 would be the greatest release date ever.
