That’s a bummer if they’re just going to replace Phasma with a new mook. Probably the one that hangs out with her in the new cartoon. Still her death was ambiguous enough that you could have brought her back and it would have played into the ‘self preservation at all costs’ part of her character that the writers of TLJ forgot.

It would’ve been better if she just got horribly maimed. SW does the cyborg thing, I still want a character to go through a progressive maiming and replacing with cyborg parts over a trilogy. Cyborg parts aren’t just for Jedi.

So we're now going to be a year away from this movie. Any thoughts or concerns?

But aside from that, no real concerns from me. TLJ represented the near rock bottom (Phantom Menace is the worst), borderline mediocre for me. At the same time though, I am cautiously optimistic, and ready for a media blowout.

 

Not particularly. It'll either be a good movie or a bad movie but I'm not going to be heartbroken either way.

That it will be another TLJ.

I just want a Star Wars movie that's fun. Where the main focus is being an enjoyable story with characters I love doing things I like. Of course, there's no characters I love left, and there's nowhere to go or nothing to do that's fun, so I'm pretty much resigned to be disappointed.

 

I don't think it's possible to be another TLJ, since, according to Creative Executive of the Lucasfilm Story Group "...the first draft of TLJ was written before TFA so it had nothing to do with fan reaction."

 

Right, and as usual, that's complete bullshit. We see studio execs say this ALL the time, but common sense always proves otherwise. First daft was submitted on date X or Y dosn't mean squat when FINAL draft *of the sequel* was completed and followed after the first movie... and damn well after fan reaction as well.

But, yes, to your first point, it's not possible to be another TLJ. And that's thanks to who's directing IX. He might not be able to fix/justify/etc. the TLJ mess, but even on his worst day, he's going to make a(nother) better installment of this trilogy.
