To be fair, the Disney trilogy doesn’t need any help on that front. They look bad all on their own. Conversely, Siege of Mandalore is fantastic on its own.

Season 1 was also the season with the most BTS rough patches. The show was rushed to air following the movie, which itself was rushed to be made out of what was supposed to be the first arc of the show. Not only was the show still trying to establish its identity and tone, a lot of stories had to be quickly retooled or rewritten for time and budget limits. Season 1 notably has several animation errors, such as incorrect textures and lighting, which even bled a bit into season 2.

The tone is really the thing that stands out as off. Is it a silly cartoon for little kids? A violent war drama for young adults? A nostalgia wank for old fans? An entry point for new fans? These tonal issues wouldn't disappear entirely, but they'd become a lot more balanced in ways that makes season 1 really stand out as poor quality compared to the later ones.

I think it’s lame to go back and criticize years old CGI but man sometimes it’s painful to watch clips from Season 1 and the pilot. It’s not a criticism at all, just an observation of something that can’t be helped. That being said, even back then, I remember being younger and watching it with a cousin, and telling him something along the lines of “you know, when it’s not showing a human, this show almost looks real as hell”. So there.

Haven't watched Clone Wars that much. Which episode were the Mauldalorians or the Mandalorian Super Commandos in?

Season 2 episode 12 is when they first appeared. The super commandos started appearing in season 5 episodes 15 and 16 and also featured heavily in the last 4 episodes of season 7

Season 1 episdoe 12 is a Jar Jar episode. You're right as in they appeared first in season 5 episode 15 and in later eps though

I'm probably beating a dead horse, I still can't believe we didn't get that Utapau arc but instead still got the Martez sister arc. Some much needed Obi-Wan and Anakin duo teamwork episodes were needed for something already lacking in the prequel trilogy to outline Anakin's descent being tragic. They're going to have to make a "star wars the clone clone wars" to actually show those episodes that are tucked behind the curtain, since S7 was so condensed.

Yeah it's a shame we never got it fully animated.

That remaster is really cool, it’s amazing what can be done. It’s still weird to hear Matt Lanter’s voice coming out of non-TCW CGI Anakin model since that’s the Anakin I know and love, not the photorealistic likeness of Hayden Christiansen.

Utapau was cool from what I saw of it, but I definitely would’ve prioritized Son of Dathomir to replace the sisters arc. This scene definitely needed to come to life somehow though. We still need Split’s idea for an anthology telling stories from all three eras and beyond, so we can one day have Son of Dathomir, stuff like Boba and Cad Bane’s duel, etc.

Part of me is hoping that we'll be getting those unfinished arcs over time. They can't possibly have completed that new Grievous model to only use it in the S7 and BB openers. Not to mention Bad Batch going by the trailers will feature the planets Pantora and Ord Mantell, both of which were settings originally meant to be used in the Dark Disciple and Son of Dathomir arcs. They'd might as well get the most out of those now finished assets!

Only problem with doing away with the Martez sisters arc is that it's kind of necessary to reintroduce Ashoka, though it did run a bit needlessly long

I once said the sister arc can be reduced to two episodes because that’s really all we got from that arc. Reduce that to two episodes, reduce the Bad Batch arc to 3 episodes, and also reduce Son of Dathomir to 3 episodes. Boom. Same episode count if they seriously couldn’t make anymore than what we got.

Pretty much. I wouldn't outright axe any of the arcs we got in season 7, but at least those 2 could be condensed

It's a real shame the show insisted on four-parters, turning a twelve episode season into just three arcs. I mean, stretching out weaker story lines isn't exactly a *new* problem with CW, but a limited revival run is the worst time to indulge in such things. Especially since Maul's return ends up being a giant plot hole. Hopefully we get more of the other arcs at some point. The Clone Wars 'universe' is obviously quite the hit, Disney's willing to make billions of spinoffs, and yeah, General Grievous getting a fancy new character model for 5 seconds of air time is rather suspicious. So I don't think it's impossible.
