Hope they asked Ellison. That man surely put his lawyer's kids through college with his frequent legal threats against those whom he believes is ripping him off or something.

I was excited until they showed they were adding The Borg. Now everyone will use them and the game will be a giant suckfest.

From what i understand you can't play as the Borg. After all, Borg are collective hive minds, so it wouldn't make sense to have PCs as Borg. They will however be an enemy to face.

Really looking forward to this one, but hoping they really get the Star Trek look and feel and it doesn't jsut turn into a Sci Fi MMO with a liscense slapped on it. Since they are using the engine from Champions Online they've got a good head start, both in the ability to customize characters and the basic combat and such. Of course the ship to ship stuff had to be built from scratch so that's likely to have the most problem areas in beta. Be interesting to see how the npc crew members are handled as well, they are basically pets after all.

Only playable factions are Starfleet and Klingon Defense Force.

    Just three more months...

Cryptic have launched their redesigned STO website Star Trek Online

There's a new video in the media menu explaining basics of combat, ship classes and customisation.

So can each player captain a ship by him or herself? Or do you have to team up with other players to command a single ship?

Everyone has command of their own ship.

That sounds better imo, since it'd be hard to get everyone online at the same time to command a ship. Besides, the captain will likely turn out to be a 12-year-old who gives out idiotic commands to his officers, anyway. I heard that it'll be available for 360 as well, is that true?

I haven't read about any 360 version in some time. Chances are it will only be PC at launch.

PC only at launch, as far as I can tell. They've said they'll be doing consoles, but didn't say what consoles or when.

Besides, MMOs work better on PCs anyway.

I'm in closed beta... I can't say too much, but it IS a fun game if a little simplistic at time... you have no idea how hard is it to NOT go into specifics >_<
