Not the first time Paramount has done this with Star Trek. ST:V was used to launch the UPN network.

Disagree. That has been done to death. A series in which there's a new ship and captain or starbase or something each season would be amazing IMO.

 

Whether its anthology or not, I'd be more interested in a series where each season is 10-13 episodes and goes into the detail of a small group of plots rather then one that sticks to the traditional Trek format. Thinking about past series, its kind of amusing how ships would turn up at a planet and fix their issues in 45 minutes before moving on to the next one when its often the sort of things that would take weeks, months or years to deal with IRL.

I hope they still get the beard even if Frakes isn't available. If Janeway can get command of a ship, you better believe that Riker's facial hair can.

 

You didn't have to purchase UPN tho.

I can't help but think this is a bad move. Trek will undoubtedly be an expensive show to make. How many people will be willing to drop a few dollars more just to catch a TV show? By itself $7 isn't much... but people are already buying internet, have already done Netflix, some have Hulu... others Amazon... how many more streaming services will people be willing to get?

Unless you get content that can't be shown on the network.

 

American Star Trek Story

 

I kinda dig a premise like that.

 

Well doing it that way there is already a massive amount of pre-placed ideas:

Season 1 - "Academy" Following a cadet who is just about to graduate Starfleet Academy, then off to the fleet. See how a cadet is trained, (besides Wesley's flight team) and see life from the perspective of a new officer - Kinda base it off the TNG episode in which a LT from Wesley's flight team was assigned to the Enterprise, and Piccard was pissed she got on board.

Season 2 - "Intel" - Take a deeper look into the operations and goals of Section 31. Already have massive amounts of details thanks to DS9 and a little from Voyager. Hell you could even retcon the Pegasus mission as a Section 31 program.

Season 3 "Command" Following similar lines, follows SF high command, more "political" as it also deals with the treaties, other worlds to be protected, new species, etc.

 

Have they given a date when the show will air.

 

Just 2017 as of now.

It's just a poster.
What could there possibly be to feel about?

 

The Starfleet logo and outer space are there, so that's at least two things right.

 

It wasn't the poster I was really referring to. It was the very little information from what we know about the supposed upcoming Star Trek series thus far.

 

If you're counting those, I would add a third. They are using the official Star Trek font... lol

 

I really care enough about the poster to say it's bad or good.
Unless of this is like TOS, I'm not going to be interested in the new series.
