I missed that, so fuck this now. I'm at maybe 11% intrigue now.

I don't use streaming services myself...but then considering this has Alex Kurtzman's name attached to it, that may not be a big loss.

That said, I think it's well past time for Star Trek to get out of the 23rd AND 24th centuries.

Well, not being from the movies is definitely a step in the right direction.

While I'm not excited to see Kurtzman's name attached, there is a relief in not seeing Orci's.

I honestly think a better idea would have been to kick the timeline ahead say, 200 years, to allow them to really revamp the visual design in light of our own currenty technological progression. It also allows them a blanket period of change to quietly fix up some of the issues the various shows have - i.e. Worf being both head of ship's security and tactical and allow them to reintroduce things like the MAKO's and restructure the way they do Away Teams and stuff.

As for setting, I'd like to see them perhaps use a super long range mission ship, and I mean a huge one, to map out a new Quadrant.

Also it should totally look like, and do the same awesome shit as the USS Prometheus.

Not exactly thrilled to see Alex Kurtzman will be the executive producer, but it's about time they brought Star Trek back to television. I'm curious to see what 'not directly related' to the film means exactly.

Prime timeline hopefully. And hopefully this new series follows course with the other series and shows at least a few episodes involving the mirrorverse.

This. Abrams' movies stink to high heaven.

The one prior to the Kirk series, or the one that blew up after they found out Sisko arranged the assassination of one of their ambassadors and pinned it on the Dominion?

I can get onboard with Admiral Riker, but that beard is coming back - even if it has to be stapled to this face.

I think the super nova destroyed Romulus before they figured that out...

But anyway, I would love to see a new series set in the original continuity, but with Kurtzman in charge, I have a feeling it will be set in the new continuity.

Maybe this will be the Captain Worf series that's been floating around for a while. I'd be on board for that, or a Dominion War story.

But a big fat NO to anything having to do with the Enterprise J/Giant fry pan with two handles, and pretty much anything to do with the ENT series.

I want a design similar to the USS Prometheus, and multi vector assault mode is a must.

I don't like that this is a CBS streaming only thing. As excited a I am for a new Star Trek show, it strikes me as a cash grab to force people to use CBS's paid streaming service, and they're banking on the fact that Trek fans are going to flock to it. Why don't they put it on CBS first, and then have streaming exclusively for the episodes after they air? Plus, that's asking too much of people. Most people already have Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu in addition to a cable or satellite package.
