Here's hoping this will be great. It's about time the Enterprise was back on the TV.

I would love to see a series far beyond ST:TNG where we can see the Enterprise-J hinted at in the Enterprise series.

Looks like this show will be a test vehicle to assess the viability of streaming-only by a major network.

Not sure how I feel about it. Star Trek series lately have had enough problems just on their own. No need to add potential distribution issues.

How does CBS NOW work? Does it require a subscription?

Actually it looks like a direct copy of Shomi and CraveTV and those have been around for a few years.

I'll be able to watch it on a regular network.

Yep it's a pay subscription service.

Never heard of them. Is it a Canada only thing? How many shows from high profile franchises do they have?

Annnd... I'm out. No way I'm paying for another service. My TV costs enough as it is.

Shame cause this could maybe be a decent show. Especially since Berman and Braga are not involved.

Well CraveTV is Bell Media's service, Shomi is Shaw Media's. And those are the two private TV producers in Canada. As for what they have, everything (save some British Dramas that are on Netflix). They even share HBO and Showtime content. You have to understand here Agents of Shield, Arrow, Flash, Grimm, and Gotham are all on the same network here (and now I have to choose between watching Gotham and Supergirl). Bell's CTV network. And so the past seasons are all on CraveTV.

Hm I would be more joyful if it was the writer of the old shows. And I hope that "not directly connected" or what they said is meaning that it's the old continuity and not the one from the movies.

    -Alex Kurtzman
    -reboot continuity

Yeah, this is going to be a massive disappointment. Star Trek is about going forward, and this whole project is going to be one big fanwank with a bunch of nudge-nudge wink-winks towards the original continuity it killed.

Maybe it's part of CBS attempting to change around their demographics a bit. By adding shows like Supergirl it seems like CBS is getting away from the "old people network" it's perceived to be sometimes.

Fingers crossed since I've been wanting a new TV series for a long time.

Yeah... I'll believe it when I see it. The possibility of a new Star Trek series seems to come up every three months or so. That said, part of me really hopes something real comes from this. Though I'm not a big fan of Kurtzman possibly being involved, and I'm not sure how I feel about it being a digital series...

As for what Universe it should be set in... As much as I would appreciate a return to the Prime Universe... I'm honestly not sure they could do so without caterin to just pre-existing Trekkies/Trekkers. Which, while there are a lot of us, they'll certainley be goin for a wider audience. That and I think something set within the nuTrek Universe, but not dealing with Kirk's crew could be really interesting.

Yeah, I remember hearing rumors about the show Captain Worf or what they wanted to call it. I also would have liked a show with Captain Riker. But I rather have him get back to shape before that. But who am I kidding, we'll never see Captain Riker or Captain Worf in their own show.

I would have loved to at least see a movie with the crew of TNG, DS9 and Voyager. Something epic like First Contact.

Why? Why would anyone want that now? Hasn't that been done enough? Time for something new.

I agree. It would have been nice to get a proper sendoff. But it's too late for that, both in terms of the actors ages and where the franchise is at.

I would have loved to see a show set within the timeframe of the Dominion War with another crew / ship.

That's what makes me pissed. I just want to watch shows on a TV, not an expensive online ripoff.
