For a non toon accurate design you might argue that (though I and most toon fans would probably disagree).
But given the lengths they went to in making the jet mode insanely toon accurate, no matter how far that is from any kind of aerodynamic logic, the decision to exclude the iconic cockpit in jet mode is unfortunate. It’s one of the things that makes me prefer Ditka’s tank mode.
I had to check screenshots to count how many wheels he should have but the missing cockpit was instantly noticeable.
YMMV of course.

 

I could easily see people bashing it for looking incomplete, despite it being toon accurate. In the end, it's a mode that people will put it in here and there and Robot is most important for me anyway. It does look like they are least kept the shape in Tank mode as a compromise.

 

They used the toy as a reference.... They were just holding it backwards in tank mode. Most likely the same guys that drew that wrong didn't know how to flip out the stabilizers either.

 

But...Ditka doesn't have the cockpit either. Just a weird bulbous curvy part. ST's Blitzwing looks much more evocative of the toon shape to me.

This is one of those details i doubt id care about when i get the figure. Though i suppose its still not "accurate"

 

I am sure Takara's version will be the most toon accurate in all three forms and I'll be too happy to get the KO version.

 

Takara is too busy to do anything other than new color options for the MP-53 mold.

 

I'm glad the video guy hates those shoulder bits too, and is going to request that they change them a little so they fold down flat. Hopefully they listen to him. It's such a small mold change to make it happen.

 

Takara Blitzwing? 2030.. at the earliest...

I’ll get the KO of the KO. You know, the simplified version made of shampoo bottle plastic that will be produced in every color combo imaginable. My Blitzwing army will be FABULOUS!!!

 

Blitzwing is the last character that I need to have a representation of everyone that I need for my collection. Hated Gewalt and couldn't stand Ditka (or more accurately, he couldn't stand). So, at this point I would take even a mediocre Blitzwing.

 

have to say i'm impressed with what i see for transformation etc. i do think the coloring of the beige is too light. i also think aesthetically its too "flat". that last part is a personal preference and i know the super toon accurate fans will disagree. this is actually where i prefer fanstoy's render. even though some will say its messy, i like what they did with the rear lower legs on the FT render. in the grey proto render it also looks less flat a little less "toony"...again a positive for me and negative for others. i however....don't have any faith in FT to deliver it this year. i think they aren't far enough along to rush it out and compete just post CNY with Dream Star. I do however predict that once this starts to ship out to retailers we will see some updated FT renders lol. i think if this once comes out at a decent price, i will likely get it. i won't wait for FT, BUT if the FT one comes out and IS WAY better i'll switch out or just add him too. I am just excited astrotrain getting his buddy soonish.

 

These guys really need to show this figure next to FT's Thomas. Preferably with MP 36 in the middle.

If that is not the money shot to sell 1000 figures a day I don't know what is.

 

Maybe they're doing their own Astrotrain. If they do I will cancel my Thomas into oblivion.

 

It's such a small and insignificant thing, but I can understand if this drives people nuts. Sometimes it's the little things that are annoying. I wonder if the designer would listen?

I just can't unsee those wing tips hanging down in bot mode. Looks mistransformed, even though it's not. So much of the rest looks really nice...wonder if that could be modded. Also those little tips on the tops of the wings that just awkwardly hang out
