When is Stan Bush going to finally get it through his head??? His song isn't going to be in the TF movies. The song is shitty at best, and the only time I'm down to listen to it is when watching the '86 movie......the 86 movie...Just go away Stan...Transformers is not going to help you get your career back. Shouldn't you be flipping burgers by now?

He should have stuck with the original 80's version. It's a classic and still great to listen to.

The original is the best. I think this one just sounds to slow. Also the guy with the touch is not in the movies yet. When hot rod comes in the movies make a remasterd version of the first.

Sorry but this does to The original song what Twilight does to Vampires.

To rid you mind of it here

'Sams Theme' Sucks all of the power heart and emotion out of the original song.

The Touch and Dare pretty much define my childhood musically. I STILL get shivers every time I listen to them.

Rap or no rap the new version is still C...<--- (rap removed)

In music terms Transformers is not a Power ballard...its RAWK and Heavy Metal...literally

And nothing has even come close to beating the power and the awesome of the Lion Theme tune from the 86 movie....the Black lab had good instuments but the whiney ass lame vocals let it down badly

^ I was born in 96, but watched the movie the first time when I was 5. Dare still gives me shivers its so awesome and evokes a lot of emotion.

Not better than 86, but still decent. I do agree the one with the rap was ridiculously memorable, but sucked.

I do like the piano in this.

I'm just gonna jump on the bandwagon and say the '86 version is better than this. It might stand a chance of being good if it had a harder edge to it. A lot less whining, a little heavier on the the music and lyrics should do it.

I've been thinking about this new version and what's wrong with it since hearing it yesterday. The thing is, "The Touch" as originally released is an empowering song with a really strong energy to it. This new version saps all the strength and empowerment out of the lyrics, bringing it down to a moody, weak rendition of what should be an inspiring song. The visuals of Bush singing it with an expression of mock sadness/pain on his face don't help either.

As for "the guy with the touch", I've always considered that to be Optimus Prime, not Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime. It was Prime's scene where the song first appeared in the movie and served as almost a battle cry for one of Prime's best moments in animation.

Thanks! I had a few laughs while writing it. Glad you enjoyed! :)

nah rodimus had the touch. he defeated unicron with the matrix (that also chose him)and also taken down galvatron. if optimus had the touch he would never died. though optimus prime is my favorite character.

I kinda like it. It is a nice update to the classic...however, he does need to move on from the popularity of the Touch!

I still disagree. "The Touch" was first played for Optimus, as he went into battle and charged through the Decepticon ranks, trashing them along the way. He then confronted Megatron and was only defeated due to the interference of Hot Rod. Hot Rod later caught the Matrix as a dying Optimus handed it to Ultra Magnus, dropping it in the process. Hot Rod sort of bumbled into being inadvertently "chosen".

In short, Optimus had "the touch", which was then passed on to Rodimus (though only because Rodimus played hero as Hot Rod and got Optimus killed).

I totally agree with your first statement. :rock

Our fanbase is going to be a lot more harsh in the criticisms just because of the nostalgia.

I don't think "Sam's Theme"/"The Touch" is a bad song, but it's not great either, with or without rap.

Personally speaking, I've always thought "Dare" to be a better song anyways. *dodges bullets* I think Vince DiCola's contributions and elemental and thematic influence of the "Autobot/Decepticon Battle" layered into the song helps that along for me as well, though.

primenemesis' post with the Black Lab theme even further proves the positive influence of the "Autobot/Decepticon Battle". I really like that theme, once I got adjusted to the strung out voice of the vocalist :lol
