i understand he has a family to feed so i'm not even going to rag on him for showing up almost every time, but i'm really wondering if it's actually worth the time and effort for him to show up. his airfare and hotel stay for him and family gotta cost at least a thousand or two, his cd selling at $10-15 a pop, he'll needs to sell somewhere about 1-200 just to break even, and from what i seen he just doesn't generate even that much foot traffic. am i missing something? is his trip paid for by botcon? btw i love the fact his kids have to sit there for 4 days looking bored in a convention full of transformers nerds, i'm not even being negative about the kids, i'm just saying i understand their boredom.
I dunno, I just feel sorry for the guy. It seems like he's trying so hard to live out his glory days, but it's just not working out. And I have no idea if his trip gets paid for or not. I'd assume not.
Guest expensses are paid for by the con, and BELIEVE me, I've run guest relations at a couple cons, no once shows up unless they were invited first. Botcon asks for Stan to come. as for this recent "he's so Sad" BS I keep seeing... you know we're only gonna see his TF related stuff on..... a TF web site. the guy does do other things. Personally I'm thankful for him. seems a standup thing for him to do and I love his work.
He'll be getting all his expenses paid for, so why wouldn't he want to be there? It's not sad if he enjoys attending. It's only 1 weekend a year after all...
Why all this negative for him? He's a part of TF history and is invited to be at botcon. For all we know he could look forward to this every year. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Yeah, seriously, what's up with all the Stan Bush hate now? I mean, he only gave the fandom its proverbial National Anthem. And not only that, but he's a genuinely nice guy. And you know what? Not everybody in the f***** fandom has met him. Should Peter Cullen stop coming to Botcons because he's done the last couple years in a row? Last year was my first botcon, and I thought it was a blast to meet him (Bush) , and quite honestly, he was the person I was most wanting to meet behind Peter Cullen.
I'm fairly certain (barring managerial incompetence) that Stan has no problems making money at BotCon if FunPub springs for his room, board, and travel expenses.
Please tell me your not that ignorant. Studio muscians, composers, song writers, producers all make great livings without their names being out there. As for poor ole Stan Bush...he still gets royalties off all the projects he's worked on and I see WFC is still selling.
