was reading the Q&A with Sly over at AICN, and someone mentioned that Frank Miller wanted Stallone as Bruce/Bats in The Dark Knight Returns...but only when Stallone was older, pushing 70. i think for the work he'd have to do, Stallone shouldn't wait too much longer. He's in his 60s already, and makeup could age him well into his 70s easy enough. so i think by age 65 or forget it. i am a little puzzled and amazed that even at his age, he's in far better shape and more believable (physically) as being Batman. Stallone has proven before with movies like Copland that he is a capable actor. so would you, or do you think people would fill theaters to see TDKR with Sly in it? also, any suggestions for supporting cast members? Robin, Alfred, Supes, Wonder Woman, Joker, etc?
Sure he can pull off the look, but as soon as he opens his mouth, any illusion of Batmanliness is lost.
Michael Ironside did a pretty good job on "The New Batman Adventures." Maybe he could do it for real too. YouTube - The Dark Knight Returns Tribute to Frank Miller‎
This thread is just crazy talk. Frank Miller has no pull to get another movie made, and no studio is going to give Stallone more than a 30 million budget. EVEN IF we lived in a world where those last 2 things weren't true, still a horrible idea. Pillow talk Sly, you've been around long enough to recognize it, yeah?
Visually I can imagine him dong really well as an old Bruce/Bats, but someone else would definitely have to do the voice work. Nothing against his voice, but...it just wouldn't work for the character.
I have always thoughts so i thought he would have been much better than dolph lundgren in the first Punnisher movie.
just thinking out loud here, but have you noticed that all Bale does when he's Bats is swallow sandpaper and growl? i am not a huge fan of that voice, personally. he sounds like he's recovering from Whooping Cough or a bad night of Dethklok at the karaoke bar. now if i had said Arnold, oh please, you guys would have every right to abuse me for that. and ever since Ironside did that segment, yeah, i have been dying for him to do an animated DTV version of TDKR. it was creepy how cool that could be.
I sort of agree... IF Bale can do it.... Why not Sly...... Although the Punisher thought does sound better fit for him... That has been the one prob. with the reboot... Bale.. I cant stand his voice.
I always wanted Eastwood to play in TDKR, but they waited too long. Stallone? I can't really see it. I'd like to see them get Michael Keaton back to do it. He's not that old, but with makeup I think he could pull it off. If you've ever seen Extreme Measures, you know how badass Keaton can truly be.
After enduring the first half of The Spirit, I don't respect anything Frank Miller has to say about movies.
