I don’t know if it’s character bias since Slag is my favorite Dinobot, but he looks better than Grimlock. Definitely looking forward to upgrade kit options from either Nonnef or DNA.
I have just missed him several times in stores around here. It is supremely annoying to find casemate, but no Dino. Slag and Swoop were always my favorite dinobots and I am super looking forward to this. That said, I really do need red horns and a black head. I'm hopeful there will be an upgrade kit to make him perfect for me. A fully silvered or chromed crest/frill would also be nice.
A wild Slag appears! Very strong sculpt and beautifully detailed, totally befitting of the mechanical monstrosity he is. Dinobot robot modes are always a winner amongst the Autobots and Slag here is no exception. Proper beefy presence. A large boy. Decent ratchets and while it isn't in abundance here (for deco snobs anyway), where paint is used is excellent. Loving the warm metallic used on the chest and gun and the gold has a great shimmer to it. 'Sword, mate? Ask my other accessory about that.' Those fists are actually painted. 'Alas, poor Prosecutor. Me knew him, Grimlock..' "I have no need for friends, even less for enemies." Can't really argue with that sculpt can you. I thought I might paint it black and give him red eyes as I did Grimlock but no. This is too good. Spot on. SPOT. ON. I'm gonna have to paint Grimmy's eyes back to blue now, aren't I? Look at this tubby little bastard. Absolutely adorable. Simple transformation with a neat chest compression delivers the goods. He's about as poseable as you'd expect. That is to say, not fucking very. In a very clever touch, there's this wonderful curvature to his eye that sees the metallic blue fall in shadow, to mimic the darker blue pupil seen in the cartoon. MOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Gob and a half that, so a fireblast effect should fit in there no probs. Nice integration of the weapon here, I'll take that. Other things fit in his mouth too. NOM NOM, MOTHERFUCKER. Insert overused quote from the movie we all know ad nauseum here. Jurassic Park music intensifies. With GCreation Hammer. No, I ain't transforming a GCreation Dinobot to robot mode for the purposes of this pictorial. It's too early in the day for psychological trauma. Oh yeah, he comes with this as well. Big fan. Great work. Overall, this fella is absolutely slagnificent.
How is the QC on everyone's copy? The elbow joints and the hip joint that allow for outward motion of the legs seem to be looser than I would expect on my copy.
Elbows are fine on mine, outward thighs are tight and hold until a couple of mm before they return to the crotch, then they sag and drop. Not really an issue for me. If yours are loose all the way, try dropping some floor polish in the joints.
Found him today. I was excited for this guy until I had the miserable experience of trying to transform him and get the back of the dino mode/tail area all locked down and tabbed together. It just won't hold together for me. Every panel or part that could pop off did. Trying to massage one part into position usually means another will slip out, especially getting the back plate over the knees, or the tail strut tabbed between the legs or the tail itself locked down. This is a MAJOR letdown after Grimlock, definitely not worth leader price. +-MWG-+
The backpack assembly can be a bit fiddly, but everything should hold together securely once you have it aligned correctly. It could also just be bad QC on your copy’s part.
I eventually got it locked together sorta, but it isn't easy to get the tail strut tabbed between the legs. Maybe I'm just obsessing a little bit over some gaps, but too much stuff pops off too easily. Those panels definitely needed pins or at least a more flexible set of plastic pegs to grab into those little holes. +-MWG-+
I had the exact same problem as the above poster. Tail section refuses to securely peg in and the back plate won’t even tab onto the folded knees. Stupid golden bits
I think the instructions are wrong with where the tail goes in robot mode. I believe the intended design is more like this: Due to this tab I have circled: This tab seems to exist to prevent the tail from bending the way the instructions want without the gold piece popping off.
Here's SS86 Sl(a)g, POTP Sl(a)g, and OSKO Sl(a)g inbetween. I'll work on slapping together a robot mode pic later on.
