I wish they used more pins to hold the panels better and the horns didn't randomly come off but I guess it's generous of them to make it easy for 3p to offer red horns and inevitable sword. Not as good as Grimlock but very high up and worth the price especially since leader class now has a lot of voyager size figures with large acessories or pieces.

I pinned the side pieces due to them being able to come off relatively easy.
Super-simple to do with a pin vice and some thin nails or spare pins:

I'm undecided on this one. He seems a bit beefier than Grimlock and I'm not fan of the red head despite the Animation accuracy.

Be careful with the knee ratchets. My copy’s left knee ratchet broke yesterday.

Slug is awesome! I might just prefer him over SS86 Grimlock, he’s that good.

Excellent articulation and engineering; I love how solidly the bot mode compacts during transformation, resulting in a pleasingly round and adorable dino mode. There is a bit of kibble in bot mode, but it’s hardly obtrusive and tidies up quite nicely. Plenty of gorgeous paint apps; the gold and red really pop, and the sculpted detail helps break up the blocky proportions.

Hasbro has really been knocking out of the park with these SS86 releases; can’t wait for Wreck-Gar and Gnaw!

After I bought 86 Grimlock, I am excited to get this guy in my collection. Slag is probably my second favorite Dinobot so owning him would be a treat.
And to all the people who own him, who is the better figure Grimlock or Slag, probably to early to judge though as we are getting the rest of the crew soon.

I love him, but I have some minor nitpicks with him.
The tail-backpack doesn’t seem to clip in and hold well - feels kinda flimsy and shifts when posing. Is it just my copy?

I do love how the arms collapse in the chest for dino mode and the gun in the tail is simple genius.
The dino head is also perfect to me.

The tail piece doesn't clip in solidly, but it does hold firmly if you align it properly.

The angular gray piece has two counter posts inside it that align with a channel in the red piece.
    20210713_082536.jpg

Push the pieces together so that the hinge piece ends up parallel to the bottom of the red piece.

Take the tail and push it in place. It'll raise up slightly and seem to "lock" into place.

It does shift when moved a lot, but is relatively solid.

    Thanks for the visual guide!
Mine barely stays in place and the parts that connect to the dino’s frill doesn’t really hold.
Maybe I should add some nail polish to the connections.

So far, pretty solid. Haven't had issues with horns or side panels coming off.

Don't care for the Daniel figure. That being said, i think i can come up with something to give him a real head.

    Pros:
    * He's a big chonky boy in either mode, strong and grumpy looking in robot mode, borderline adorable in dino mode, and an excellent matched companion to SS86 Grimlock.
    * Save for a few bits around the insides of the horns or dino legs, largely devoid of hollow spaces
    * Sculpt work is nice, with much surface detail over and above what the cartoon model sheet shows. I like how with design and paint the dino eyes imply the appearance of pupils without ones being explicitly sculpted in.
    * Quite poseable in robot mode, and the legs can move in dino mode.
    * the way the dino legs hide away inside the robot legs is quite impressive, though I debate whether I prefer the dino legs hide or the tail.
    * Color work is mostly good, matching SS86 Grimmy and the cartoon.
    * The way the rifle can store in the tail is quite the nice option.
    * Fairly solid in robot mode, and very solid as a dino if everything is pegged in right.

    Cons and nitpicks:
    * Robot shoulders seem a bit over-wide to me, making the head look small. It's growing on me a little though.
    * Dino mode is a bit on the chunky/boxy side. Not terribly so, but POTP and even G1 Slag toys look like sleek aerodynamic MoFos by comparison.
    * For some reason, the color scheme is apparently inspired by a rare Canadian color variation of the G1 Slag toy. As for why they would base on such an obscure thing, I can only speculate, but it's not my preferred colors.
    * There are a few bits that could use more paint, like the inside of the 'hood' for robot mode, and maybe some silver or light metallic gray over the neck frill.
    * The 'backpack' stuff doesn't tuck in very solid for robot mode, and dislodges easily. The 'wings' and some other bits can pop off if you're not careful, and can be a pain to reattach.
    * Has one of the same issues as Grimlock (and Siege Megatron) where the head is mounted to a moving panel which doesn't lock down.
    * Some mildly unsightly gaps on the inner surfaces of the horns, and the backs of the rear dino legs due to how they transform.
    * While the transformation is not difficult at all, there are some annoying parts and areas where you should be cautious, lest the forces knock parts together the wrong way and damage something. Going TO dino mode has a 'puzzle box' moment or two, like trying to peg the tail spur between the rear sections, as physics, joint forces and lack of places to grip all conspire against you.
    * DANIEL... (*low trombone fart noise*)

    Overall:
    * This toy is damn near all the Slag you'll ever need, though IMO a step behind Grimlock in overall enjoyment factor, and it makes me appreciate the relative simplicity of the POTP Slag.... Slug.... Slag.

Anyone have an MP Grimlock to compare in bot mode? I think they will look good together.

Color scheme is based on the G1 show cartoon model. Same with Takara Generations Selects Slag.

True enough. It's only one point for the correction, but FIVE to quote the words.
