    Hello friends,

my studio series 86 Ultra Magnus came with a red paint streak across the roof of the cab (I think it is the same red paint that is used on the clear plastic parts that spring open on robot mode chest to reveal the matrix, as the cab roof ends up forming the back of this piece).

I am not an experienced customiser, but I would really like to clean this up. I would love some guidance on how I could safely remove this - does any one have any advice? I’m based in the UK, so not sure if products are the same across the pond? A friend here in the UK, who collects and paints Warhammer 40k rather than TFs, advised “I would try methylated spirits (the purple stuff NOT the clear ‘white spirit’). It may take some patience and elbow grease with a toothbrush or something. Or as there’s not to much you could try just scraping it off very carefully with a sharp scalpel? Tricky though.” Does that sound about right?

I’m so grateful for any help! Thank you!

ps. Mods. I’m sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I would use rubbing alcohol but be careful because it the white pieces are painted it will take that off too.

91% isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is my go-to.
I use an ear bud soaked in it, then gently rub over the area to be cleaned. Be careful o not get it on any clear parts as it can make them cloudy or in the extreme damage them outright.
For the blemish you pictured, you should be good to go. Give it a few seconds to soak the paint, then rub it off with the ear bud. May take a time or three depending on the thickness and plastic, but it should clean up nicely.
