I think your pictures have convinced me to get the original MP. Looks the most like I remember the original toy, but better.

Really? Seeing the toy now just reminds me of how dated it really is. I kinda liked his huge, hunched shoulders initially, but in context of better-looking toys since, they look incredibly awkward. And they're very limited in practice.

If I'm honest, it's not a bad figure. Dated and built to be wobbly even when locked together, but it certainly looks the part--especially in dino mode. For me, Grinder did a better job (especially in size) and MP-08 was just a bit too big to move him over to the mainline collection. It's the main reason I'm so looking forward to all the Dinobots getting released based around how the SS86 one came out! I know Swoop will be a voyager, but I'm really hoping for LARGE voyager--as large as they can get away with.

I have to admit to having some major OCD issues, and forearm gaps kill me. There are a few figures in my collection that I have given exceptions to because they're otherwise great, but for the most part I will pass on any figure with forearm gaps (unless an upgrade kit exists to fix the problem). I could look past the forearm gaps because I will admit I like the SS figure's proportions better, but the screw holes in the dinosaur face look awful and so do the missing teeth. I'm mostly buying Grimlock for his dinosaur mode, so that's really what pushed me over the edge. I am not in a rush to get a Grimlock right now so if an upgrade kit comes out that fixes these problems, I might change my mind.
Yeah, the dino mode is really what I'm after. MP Grimlock fits with my CHUG collection better scale-wise. I am extremely excited for the rest of the SS Dinobots, but am hoping that their size doesn't mean more gaps and such.

Ah, well in that case, the Dino mode of the MP is still really good.

For the all-round package though, my personal recommendation goes to Gigapower's Superator figure. Just freakin' massive, for one, but I find the robot mode proportions far better balanced than either the MP or FansToys' offering. Shoulders not absurdly high like the MP, thicker thighs than either, and not as squatty a robot torso as FT Grinder.

Superator does look nice, I might get that for my MP shelf if it ever gets a reissue. Never really looked at their stuff before, thanks for the recommendation. Trux, my favorite Grimlock design in the CHUG scale, got cancelled. The Planet X Grimlock is too big, and I am just not a big fan of their style.

Since I had the G2 figure as a kid and always wondered why Grimlock wasn't blue in the cartoon, I might just wait and pick up the inevitable G2 version of the Studio Series figure. By then I'm sure an upgrade kit will have happened, and I'm guessing there'll be a repaint ready to go.

They look magnificent together. We've really delivered. Thank you Pun-3X, you're awesome and your Dinos are awesome too.

Why is Grimlock missing his front teeth? Is it a child safety thing? Is he a meth head?

    :Lol

    It is weird though.

The only thing I can think of is that they left them out for the effects parts.

I like the new grimlock best. I hate clear plastic. Plus the new one is just the right size for what I'm needing.

I also like wheelie and that he can ride on grimlock like in the movie. I think it's a awesome accessory. I guess I'm one of the few who appreciate hasbro for making these nods to the movie so many of us grew up with.

I really like the look of this guy but I kind of only want to get him if they're doing all the Dinobots... I think we have leaked listings for Slagle and Swoop right?

Anyone else get cockblocked by streetdates? A couple Targets in my area had him in the back but won’t bring him out until Feb 1

Right lol. Worst part is I’ve bought the rest of SS86 from the exact same Target, so why is Grimlock the one to be streetdated?
