He looks really bland? Like I feel nothing when I look at this design. Why is he orange?????

At least he's not the kingdom figure reskinned???????

Also the lack of paint really bothers me. Like I'm not one to complain about paint, but with the movie figures I feel like a lot of them really need that extra paint to bring out their details.

So far the only ROTB figures I'm absolutely hyped for are the Terrorcons which is a shame.

Idk the more I hear about this movie the more concerned I am. I'm trying to be optimistic and positive about it, I really am, but its getting really hard to.

Tangent aside, who are we supposed to see today? Was this the only new guy that hadn't been leaked?

EDIT: I just saw the recolored digi and it definitely looks a lot better like that. He pops a lot more with the goldish yellow color. Tho my criticisms about him looking a little generic still stands at least regarding the head. It's impressive what a simple color swap can do, its a shame that the orangeish color is actually accurate to what we can see in the trailer.

Head on chest was an identity of most beast wars characters when it launched. Would be less of an issue if this design didnt looks shit.

Prime always had a Optimus Prime head and windows on his chest(until AOE) Optimus Prime looked like Optimus Prime. Not even about G1 designs tbh G1 doesn't even have my favorite designs at all.

 

He's like a loose hybrid of his Transmetal, Transmetal 2 and Beast Machines looks over the classic iteration. I'm simultaneously impressed and appalled. That more intensely coloured digi looks fantastic. Looking forward to seeing this guy in action.

The Cheetah mode look like a Sabertooth tiger but without the fang.

I think I would buy the mainline more than this SS version.

Yeah, with this and Airazor the art direction for the mainline ROTB toys seems to be "vibrant, cartoony, but modern", while Studio Series seems to be "what's a paint budget?"
I know which ones I'm getting.

Also like. if your issue is that movie's design isn't toyetic then "unpainted brown plastic" is a bizarrely specific complaint to make. would you like it if it was painted brown? if it was unpainted yellow plastic?

 

Just to expand on my original comment, since I've mentioned this elsewhere and you seem to have not noticed it and therefore might not have a full picture of my feelings on this design, the movie design is nowhere near this featureless.
Unpainted in this situation means a total lack of paint except for his spots.

It also sucks ass, which is what I was saying in the comment you're replying to, but it's more complex than just that. It sucks, but it sucks in a very particular way, and if Hasbro had attempted to improve on that by investing in a little more paint, the lack of this is meant to be a toy-ness wouldn't be anywhere near this jarring.

EDIT: For instance! They could have painted the mechanical details, of which this toy has MANY.

 

Cheetor looks fine. Optimus Prime is a good comparison, because he also looked fine. But people hated the head because of the open mouth. They hated the chest because it wasn't a rectangle. They hated the flames, they hate the alt mode, they insisted up and down the line that the design was a disgrace to Optimus Prime even though he was the only one in the movie 1 lineup you could pick out at a glance as their G1 counterpart. Weird how small, kinda meaningless differences piss people off, huh?

Even within just Beast Wars only 1/3rd of his designs had his cheetah head on his chest, so it’s hardly his most defining feature. I’d say him turning into a cheetah certainly is, and the movie design accomplishes that. It’s cool that it’s inspired by his various incarnations as opposed to just copying the one.

BM designs are awesome dude. I mean, you’re welcome to dislike them but, that’s just your opinion man
