Now that I think of it, one thing that does disappoint me a little is that they didn't throw in any homages to the original character besides the head design.

Why not simply add some spikes to the shins, "teeth" to the crotch or disks to the shoulders? You get the idea. That would've been really nice to see. Respectful of the source yet still completely brand-new

Yes, Dinobot probably died his heroic death at some point in the past, Tigatron is just another Cheetor to them I guess and Rattrap I'm afraid would've put off a huge chunk of the audience because people don't like rats. Even though they're super cute and we're way past the medieval times

 

Hm... personally, while I do like the Season 1 design the best, it's definitely not Cheetor's only design. Unlike other characters whose designs changed with each iteration, Cheetor went through multiple design changes within the same continuity. It's more than fair to say that his TM, TM2, and BM designs are as much a part of the original character as the Season 1 design. The movie design is a clear homage to those later designs, and I think they've been more respectful of the original than many other movie characters.

 

They aren't on the model in the trailer either the missing silver bits can just be down to paint apps and not being accurate since its only a studio series toy. Compromises need to be made you can see where they tried to do the pauldrons like in the trailer model but obviously it not being a master piece figure means it wont be 100% accurate. To me apart from the colour this looks like a proper straight toy of the model we see in the trailer. Also Airrazor doesnt really look different in the trailer either.

 

It is just their intro movie so 4 makes it easy for me to get the toys

Why should I need to explain something like that? The Beast Wars exists in several different continuities, they all have to end somehow.

The ROTB Maximals all went to the same tanning saloon/studio, and came out in the same shade of the color spectrum. Lol.

Know what? Maybe this is one of his later bodies and we'll get to see his original body in a prequel movie

 

Only one of any of these i want is the new version of Airrazor we saw, not the remold. Guess i continue to save money on these.

 

This looks like a matured Cheetor so his character likely won't be the eager young rookie type I'm guessing. And maybe even an ancient guardian type? That's the vibe I get from the maximals in the trailer, I don't know much about the story yet.
I do like the idea of seeing him in the past looking different, great way to homage his first form there.

 

At least he didn't have yet another tail weapon...
