They're just too many Bay style decisions on a movie that is the sequel to Bumblbee, I don't think Cable was like "let's drastically change Wheeljack into a big nerd" either.

You know after a few hours of letting this swim around in back of my brain, I've realized this design kinda looks like the Earth Wars Cheetor just missing the head on the chest.

 

Been letting it marinate all day for me, and..... nope.



I'm 2 for 2 on preferring the mainline to studio series on these beasts. So, I'm glad we have that option. Still, it's fun to finally be an ol' G1 tooner for a new generation: "Get off muh lawn. That ain't no Cheetor!"

 

I think this is a rite of passage for mouthed SS Figures, buuuut....

 

The quote "with how Lorenzo is described, you'd think of him as some sort of boogeyman who hides in your closet" from @zark225 applies to Michael Bay too, just replace "Lorenzo" with "Bay".

 

Cheetor sure is chunky.

Thoughts
Robot mode: I think he looks kind of bulky. The mix of transmetal and beast machines designs works really well. It doesn’t look like he has any leftover kibble from the cheetah mode which makes him very clean of any kibble. The color choice is weird, it could have been a bit darker. I think he looks alright.

Alt mode: Cheetah mode is very weird even though it’s meant to be made to look like what he sort of looks like in the trailer. The visible hands in cheetah mode is stupid. They could have found a way to hide them by folding them into the arms by opening a panel in the arm to swap with the claws. Also the teeth aren’t painted which make him look toothless.

Overall I think he’s a interesting redesign of Cheetor. I might just get the SS versions of each character rather than the mainline versions. Can’t wait to see SS Optimus Primal and Rhinox.
