I absolutely adored Bumblebee's voice in that movie, BTW, and I would love for that actor to come back.

Okay but like where? Where's the "blatantly Cheetor" on this design? Not even saying it's a poor representation, but it's not exactly sporting much in the way of shared visual elements. The head especially doesn't really resemble Cheetor at all. This could just as easily be Tigatron, or any big cat character.

I will say though, in the trailer Cheetor's robot mode legs actually did look like they shared details with his season 1 body. This toy, however, has differently designed legs that have no resemblance.

I actually like the weapon too. Might pick this up.

Your sarcasm isn’t appreciated. I’m obviously talking about specific design elements like the cheetor’s face or the cat head on the chest.

whatever, I’m glad your happy, but you can keep your crappy wheeljack redesign, or your generic robots like this cheetor. I’m out.

It’s a cute theory, but sadly one proven incorrect by the trailer for the film:

    BC73523E-673D-4D18-BBA3-BFF38068A057.jpeg

Cheetor looks much sleeker and more like a modern-day cheetah here. The figure just didn’t capture the proportions of a cheetah. Not much else to say about it.

It's been 0 for 2 for the Studio Series Maximals thus far, but I really hope they can at least make Primal work.

I dig the spear but I think I'm just not crazy about the character design. Think I prefer the other recently revealed one with the khaki shorts. This mold would look great in black though.

He has both of those elements you brought up, you're lashing out and being wrong at the same time.

I like this (lame colors aside) but it makes me lust for updated Beast Machines. I loved those designs.

Yeah, sorry if it wasn’t obvious that I was just spinning off into creating personal head canon to justify why this toy looks as it does and how it could have a place in my collection.

The creators obviously were not thinking of an obscure ice age species in designing this character.

See, I don't get people who react harshly to those who dislike these radical redesigns. What's wrong with wanting the characters they bring into these films to look like the characters people love and remember? And this coming from someone who has plenty of love and appreciation for new takes.

It's not that fans are adverse to change or different takes, but there's nothing inspired about completely throwing out a character's existing visual iconography and replacing it wholesale. That's not creative, it's just replacement. As much as I know people dislike the aesthetic, it's why TF07 Prime is still one of my favourite takes on the Optimus design. It manages to be completely new and unique while keeping clearly identifiable iconography from the original like the chest windows, head elements, grill on the stomach, etc. It may not literally resemble any previous Optimus, but it still looks like Optimus Prime.

Different is not automatically bad, but it doesn't absolve poor designs from being poor representations of the characters, or the criticisms that come from it. It is far more intuitive to take an existing character design and adapt it to a new medium/setting than merely discarding it wholesale. They did it with Optimus, Arcee, and seemingly Airazor. Hell, even Rhinox looks to have a pretty faithful head design going off the brief glimpse of the character in the trailer. Yet Cheetor and Primal seem to lose a lot, if not all, of their identifiable elements. (Primal at least keeps a decently recognizable head, plus his swords of all things)

Looks perfect to me. Very muscular, as seen in the trailer.

In Australia (where the listing originated) and the UK, most likely. The States and Canada have been behind the aforementioned countries by at least a month when it comes to product releases as of late. So a few things can happen:
    1. The UK and Australia will get these next month, and the US and Canada will maybe start to see them trickle out in March, just in time for the official April launch date.

    Or:

    2. The US and Canada will start seeing the figures next month as well since cases have already arrived in port. One company already sent out Bumblebee and Battletrap this month.

Personally, I think 2 is the most likely, so if you have PO’s, prepare your wallets.

I just don’t think that’s what’s going on with this design. There are elements of the original S1 design, TM, TM2, and the BM designs. The head has just about all of those elements: a (smaller) head crest from S1, more feline mouth/muzzle from TM2, lack of crest “ears” and head shape more consistent with BM.

The total package is a new design, but the individual elements homage the history of the character and his many very different forms.

To say nothing of Wheeljack, who went from the perfection of the BBM design to...shamelessly just robot Steve Urkel.
