There is no "event."

There's just going to be a drop in about 2 and a half hours.

 

If these are the movie designs, what the heck are the other Cheetor and Airazor toys based on

 

Genetic analysis and taxonomic trait presumptions. The American Cheetah was more closely related to the Puma, with its cheetah-like features being an example of convergent evolution rather than direct evolutionary link to modern cheetahs.

 

Right?! Hasbro needs to get their crap together. Considering it turns into a large cat with a color pallette that's in the yellow-orange-brown range, and he has motifs all over him reminicent of a well-known character that turns into a cheetah, I was completely under the impression this was Skybyte.

I feel mislead and lied to.

It'll be interesting to see how the transformation works, as it seems like the cheetah head completely disappears into the chest.

 

Isn’t the definition of “event” in the eye of the beholder? This isn’t a “put on your best Sunday dress” level of event, so much as a “show up in sweats and throw money at the screen” level event.

 

I love this design, but I can agree that the lack of paint is unfortunate. I enjoy the idea of the ROTB Maximals getting BWBB or Gen Selects releases in their Transmetal colors, as I think these designs work as a nice modernization of the original idea behind Transmetals.

 

So what was with that other ROTB Cheetor, you know the one that looked like season 1 Cheetor?

 

I’m 99% certain that the design philosophy changed late in the movie’s production, but there is a 1% chance the more “classic” mainline designs will be utilized in a Bumblebee-esque flashback sequence.

Either way, I’m happy with what we’ve seen so far from Studio Series!

 

Looks awesome. Terrific updated version of one of my favorite characters.

 

I see them more as a modernization of TM2. The TM designs inverted the beast and robotic elements, giving us furry bots and metal animals. The TM2 had these elements randomly distributed across both modes, which is more what I see here with the time-worn aesthetic.

 

The fact that those three minutes and twenty seconds were the single best part of all the live action movies and it was thrown at the last minute has me laughing my head off.

 

I think what really leaves me cold with this toy is the clear attempt at an anatomical, more defined robot mode that looks like a tube with sculpted anatomy on top of it. His proportions and shapes are very basic, plain, and don't jive with the sculpted "pectoral muscles," abdomen, etc. The ratio between legs and torso is also quite unimpressive, and in general he just looks flat and dumpy on top of looking plain and simplified.

I'm just not feeling this one. Also it just plain sucks that the hands are just there in beast mode. There's nothing really intuitive or impressive about this toy, especially for a SS (presumably) Voyager.

Oh yeah, speak more fuckin' science at me hhhnnnn...

I think that'd be utterly brilliant if Cheetor really was an American Cheetah, though I doubt the movie makers were aware of that species. (and Primal and Rhinox are obviously African fauna anyway)

 

I do like how sleek the overall body silhouette looks, kinda reminds me of his Beast Machines design. However, the head design is a bit of a turn off for me, and now I'm torn on which Cheetor figure I should get, mainline or SS? I just don't know daddy-o.

 

I mean sure, if all you care about is being shown things you recognize that was the best part of the Bee movie. Too bad you seem to have turned it off and missed the rest of the movie.
