A couple of months ago I already made a Voyager Class Dogfight but I also wanted a Deluxe Class version. Again I went for the original G1 look instead of the IDW look (the eyes are actaully yellow as the G1 art but it's hard to see on the pictures).
Dogfight's original alt mode is a Grumman X-29 with the characteristic main wings facing forward. The Sukhoi SU-47 Berkut has this same charateristic wings and there is a 3D printed set of these wings available for the Deluxe Skydive figure (see my other thread), so the decision was easily made to recreate Dogfight as a 'Berkut'. I did consider the idea to keep Skydive's original double tails and cut off the Berkut double tails and small back wings to give him a more G1 look but because the cockpit section also looks more like a SU-47 than a X-29, I decided to go all the way for a more Berkut look.
He is almost ready, I just need to put on the stickers (where did I hear that before...? :) ).

    Excellent work!
Opting a S47 Berkut as the alt mode is genius, as it both updates the altmode but still retains the technology demonstrator aspect of the original X-29... a great connection ;)

Thank you. I do like the way he has turned out too. The X-29 flew for the first time in 1984 and although the Su-47 flew for the first time 13 years later in 1997, the concept is already over 25 years old but still looks futuristic. Overall the Skydive figure has much more resemblance with the Su-47 than with the X-29 like the 'double engine look' and the 'bubble cockpit' on top of the fuselage. So Berkut he became...

He needs paint details so he fits in with modern toys, instead of having entire blocks of plastic being the same color. The stickers might help but it still needs variety, especially when you compare against the Aerialbot in your picture.

Aye for sure... No other way to go. It really is too bad they couldn't give us a true AV-8B, F4, F16, and F15, to use... or closer looking. But on the flip side, it does make us really think outside the box for customs :D

And here is Dogfight with stickers. I got he original stickers on ebay but they were too small for a Deluxe Class figure. So I scanned them to the correct size and had them printed on high quality sticker material. One small issue is of course copying silver that turns out bluish but so be it. I had him pose with the bigger Voyager version of him self (yay for muliple universes...:) ). Because he is a Tiggerbot I gave him 2 black guns.
